Canaan is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Shelby Township, Jefferson County, Indiana, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 90. Geography Canaan is located in northeastern Jefferson County at , in the center of Shelby Township. State Roads 62 and 250 pass through the community together, along the eastern and southern sides. State Road 62 leads northeast to Dillsboro and southwest to the northern outskirts of Madison, the Jefferson county seat. State Road 250 leads east to Pleasant and southwest to U.S. Route 421, which leads south to the center of Madison. Indiana State Road 250
State Road 250 (SR 250) in the U.S. State of Indiana is a secondary route that runs from U.S. Route 50 (US 50) in Brownstown eastward toward the Ohio River at State Road 156 (SR 156) in Patriot in southeast Indiana. Towns include Uniontown, Paris Crossing, Canaan, and East Enterprise. SR 250 is split in two north of Madison due to the Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge (formerly the Jefferson Proving Ground). Brooksburg is a town in Milton Township, Jefferson County, Indiana, United States. The population was 81 at the 2010 census. History Brooksburg was platted in 1843. It was named for Noah Brooks, one of its founders. Brooksburg was incorporated as a town on August 24, 1878. Geography Brooksburg is located at (38.735781, -85.245524).
