Freddie Stewart (actor)
Freddie Stewart (born Morris Joseph Lazar; March 25, 1925 – August 15, 2000) was an American actor and big band singer. He is best known for appearing in the Monogram Pictures film series The Teen Agers from 1946 to 1948. Career Stewart was born in New York City. He dropped out of school to work as a stock clerk and also worked summers at a Catskills resort. He renamed himself Freddie Stewart (after actors James Stewart and Freddie Bartholomew) when he joined the Cappa Barra Harmonica Band in 1939. By the next year, he was working as a vocalist with Clyde McCoy's Orchestra for $60 a week. He worked his way up to his own radio show in New York on NBC, the fifteen-minute nightly, ''Freddie Stewart Sings''. He wrote a song called "Do I Know What I'm Doing" for ''She's for Me'' (1943), and made an appearance in '' She's a Sweetheart'' (1944). He later joined Tommy Dorsey's band as a singer for a year. June Preisser
June Preisser (June 26, 1918 – September 19, 1984) was an American actress, popular in musical films during the late 1930s and through the 1940s, many of which capitalized on her skills as an acrobat. Life and career Born June 26, 1918 in New Orleans, Preisser was one of six children. As a child, she was underweight and began going to an athletic club in an attempt to build strength and gain weight. It was there that Preisser and her sister Cherry learned acrobatics in which they excelled. Their mother was keen to have them follow a career in show business, especially when their father died suddenly, leaving the family with few options to make a living. When Preisser was nine years old, an actor noticed the two sisters performing acrobatics on a sidewalk near their home, and his interest led to their working in vaudeville and later for the Ziegfeld Follies in 1934 and 1936. The Teen Agers is a series of seven coming-of-age musical comedy-drama films made by Monogram Pictures from 1946 to 1948. A follow-up to the East Side Kids, the series stars Freddie Stewart and June Preisser. The films were initially produced by Sam Katzman but when he left Monogram for Columbia Pictures, duties shifted to Will Jason. The first four films are directed by Arthur Dreifuss, with the remaining three by Jason. Noel Darleen Neill (November 25, 1920 – July 3, 2016) was an American actress. She played Lois Lane in the film serials ''Superman'' (1948) and ''Atom Man vs. Superman'' (1950), as well as the 1950s television series '' Adventures of Superman''. Donald Hugh MacBride (June 23, 1893 – June 21, 1957) was an American character actor on stage, in films, and on television who launched his career as a teenage singer (making several recordings in 1907) in vaudeville and went on to be an actor in New York. Monte Collins (also credited as Monty Collins; December 3, 1898 – June 1, 1951) was an American film actor and screenwriter. He appeared in more than 160 films between 1920 and 1948. He also wrote for 32 films between 1930 and 1951. Career Dapper, pencil-mustached Collins starred in silent short comedies in the late 1920s. These were produced by Educational Pictures and often directed by Jules White. Prior, he had worked as a director in Portland, Oregon. The coming of sound in movies had no ill effect on Collins's career; he was not as big a name as Buster Keaton or Laurel and Hardy, so Collins had no preconceived screen image that could be shattered by talkies.
