Marianna is a city in and the county seat of Jackson County, Florida, United States, and it is home to Chipola College. The population was 6,102 at the 2010 census. In 2018 the estimated population was 7,091. The official nickname of Marianna is "The City of Southern Charm". The Battle of Marianna was a small but significant engagement on September 27, 1864, in the panhandle of Florida during the American Civil War. State Road 273 (SR 273) is a north–south highway in the panhandle in the U.S. state of Florida that extends from State Road 77 (SR 77) in Chipley to U.S. Route 231 (US 231) in Campbellton. SR 273 runs through both Washington and Jackson counties, and most, if not all of the road is a two-lane undivided highway.
