Campbellstown, Ohio
Campbellstown (also Florence, Florence Station) is an unincorporated community in Jackson Township, Preble County, Ohio United States. The community is served by National Trail High School and the National Trail Local School District. History Campbellstown was originally called Florence Station, and under the latter name was laid out in 1852 when the railroad was extended to that point. The present name honors a pioneer settler with the surname Campbell. A post office called Campbellstown was established in 1854, and remained in operation until 1954. National Trail High School is a public high school in New Paris, Ohio. It is the only high school in the National Trail Local School district. The district serves students from New Paris Ohio, Eldorado, Ohio, and West Manchester, Ohio, along with all of Jefferson Township, Monroe Township, and Jackson Township. Donald Ray Elston (April 6, 1929 – January 2, 1995) was an American relief pitcher who appeared in 450 games in Major League Baseball, all but one of them as a member of the Chicago Cubs (1953, 1957–1964). His 18-season professional baseball career began in the Cub farm system in 1948. A hard thrower, Elston played for perennially weak Cubs teams over the course of his nine-year major league tenure.
