Nan Goldin
Nancy Goldin (born September 12, 1953) is an American photographer and activist. Her work often explores LGBT subcultures, moments of intimacy, the HIV/AIDS crisis, and the opioid epidemic. Her most notable work is '' The Ballad of Sexual Dependency'' (1986). The monograph documents the post- Stonewall, gay subculture and includes Goldin's family and friends. She is a founding member of the advocacy group P.A.I.N. (Prescription Addiction Intervention Now). She lives and works in New York City. Early life Goldin was born in Washington, D.C. in 1953 to middle-class Jewish parents, and grew up in the Boston suburb of Swampscott, moving to Lexington in her teens. Annette Kelm
Annette Kelm (born 1975 in Stuttgart, Germany) is a German contemporary artist and photographer who is particularly known as a conceptual artist. Kelm uses medium or large format cameras in her work, creating still life and portraits. She favours using analog photography methods in her work. Kelm graduated from the Hochschule für bildende Künst in Hamburg in 2000, after which she moved to Berlin. She was awarded the Camera Austria Award for Contemporary Photography by the City of Graz in 2015. Work Kelm explores ideas through "baffling narratives" which use typology, patterns and the intersection of design and technology. Joanna Piotrowska (born 1985) is a Polish photographer based in London. She works primarily with black and white photography, focusing on themes of history, memory, and repetition. Education Piotrowska earned an MFA from the Royal College of Art, London, in 2013. Career Piotrowska's 2014 series "FROWST" is a series of staged family portraits. The photos were published in a book by the same name, which won the First Book Award in 2014. After winning one of the three Jerwood/Photoworks Awards in 2015, Piotrowska focused on photographing teenage girls in self-defense poses. She shot the series in Poland, finding subjects through friends and casting agencies that worked with aspiring actresses. Jochen Lempert
Jochen Lempert (born 1958 in Moers) is a German photographer whose work is about the world of nature and animals. Lempert first studied as a biologist before turning to photography in the early 1990s. Accordingly, his pictures are marked with scientific aspects, not only referring to his motives but more to the whole process of photography. He has built his reputation on scientific publications. His work is in the collection of the German state. In 2005 he was the winner of the Edwin Scharff Prize. In 2010 he will contribute to national and international exhibitions.
