Camden Haven, New South Wales
Camden Haven is a parish in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, approximately 30 km south of the major regional centre of Port Macquarie. The harbour is located where the Camden Haven River empties into the Tasman Sea. The Birpai (also known as Birrbay) people have lived in this area for more than 40,000 years. Camden Haven is also the name given to a group of settlements located on the shores of Camden Haven and in the rural hinterland. Laurieton, located on the harbour's western shore, is the largest town and the commercial centre for the Camden Haven district. Other communities in the immediate vicinity of the harbour include North Haven and Dunbogan. The Dooragan National Park is a national park on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia. The national park is situated near Laurieton, and is approximately northeast of Sydney. Birpai
The Birrbay people, also spelt Birpai, Biripi, Birippi and variant spellings, are an Aboriginal Australian people of New South Wales. They and share a dialect continuum with the Worimi people. Language The Gathang language (aka Gadjang or Worimi) is the speech of the Birrbay centred in Port Macquarie. Birpai is spelt Biripi in southern areas, such as Taree. Gathang was a community language spoken by the six tribes of the Worimi when required to meet. W. J. Enright found four elderly speakers of Gathang at Wauchope in 1932. Country Birbay are the traditional owners of some of Mid North Coast land, from Gloucester eastwards to the coast where the Manning River debouches into the Pacific at Taree. North Coast Railway Line, New South Wales
The North Coast Line is the primary rail route in the Mid North Coast and Northern Rivers regions of New South Wales, Australia, and forms a major part of the Sydney–Brisbane rail corridor. The line begins at Maitland and ends at Roma Street railway station in Brisbane, although freight services terminate at the yard at Acacia Ridge on the outskirts of Brisbane. Kendall is a town on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia. History The Birpai (also known as Birrbay) people have lived in this area for more than 40,000 years. Kendall was originally named Camden Heads, as it is located on the Camden Haven River. Pacific Highway is a national highway and major transport route along the central east coast of Australia, with the majority of it being part of Australia's Highway 1.
