Cambodia Women's National Football Team
The Cambodia women's national football team represents Cambodia in international women's association football and is governed by Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC). While the national federation was founded in 1933 and has received support from Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the development of women's football has been slow with football not the most popular women's sport in the country. The women's first national championship was not held until 2010. The senior team had its first match in June 2018. They have participated in three editions of the AFF Women's Championship, defeating Timor-Leste twice and drawing a match against Laos. The under-16 national team, coached by Sam Schweingruber, played in the nation's first FIFA recognised women's international in May 2009 when they played Laos, with Nith Pean being the first woman to score a goal in international play. Sam Schweingruber
Sam Schweingruber is a Swiss football coach. He was the first manager of the Cambodia women's national team. Career Playing career In his playing days, Schweingruber played at Swiss third-division sides Munsterlingen, Oberglatt, and Pfyn. Leaving Switzerland to go gallivanting around the globe, he felt attached to Cambodia where he played for the Mild Seven team. For a monthly salary, they paid him 30 US dollars and a cigarette packet. Later, he became their head coach. Coaching Despite Sam Schweingruber committing himself to fight against corruption, Phnom Penh Crown had been torn asunder after unfalsified voice recordings showed that seven players and four staff were involved in perpetrating a match manipulation scandal. Cẩm Phả Stadium ( vi, Sân vận động Cẩm Phả) is a multi-use stadium located in Cẩm Phả, Quảng Ninh Province, Vietnam. The stadium has a capacity of 20,000 seats and mostly used for football matches. It is the best quality stadium in Quảng Ninh Province and used to be home stadium of Than Quảng Ninh F.C.
