Calvin Howarth
Calvin Howarth (born 18 June 1976 in Auckland, New Zealand) is a New Zealand born former Scotland 'A' international rugby union player. He plays at Fly-half. Howarth was selected for Scotland A on the basis of a four-year residency period and played in Scotland's match against Romania in 2002 to confirm his Scottish nationality. His older brother Shane Howarth represented both New Zealand and Wales. He moved from New Zealand where he played for North Harbour to Scotland. Playing for Boroughmuir from 1998 he helped the team rise through the divisions and also won the BT Cellnet Cup in 2001 beating Melrose. He secured a place with professional district side Edinburgh in 2001. He was loaned to Glasgow Warriors in March 2002 when their fly-half Barry Irving was injured, as cover for their Cook Islands international fly-half Tommy Hayes. Tommy Hayes (born 13 December 1973 in Tokoroa, New Zealand) is a Cook Island international rugby union player. He plays as a fly-half. Rugby Union career Amateur career Hayes started off with amateur club Waikato Rangers in New Zealand. As part of the Glasgow Warriors contract Hayes was allowed to play for the amateur side Glasgow Hawks when not on Warriors duty. The former Cook Islands international joined amateur side Moseley RFC for the second half of the 2006/07 season. He returned to Moseley for the latter part of the 2007/08 season after a spell at Gran Parma in Italy. He played with Coventry RFC (2009/2010), and Malvern RFC (2010/2012). Hayes now plays at Pershore RFC. Provincial and professional career Hayes quickly progressed from amateur to playing for Waikato Province. The professional Glasgow side signed Hayes in 1997. Boroughmuir RFC Players
Boroughmuir RFC is a rugby union football club in the Scottish Rugby Union. The club's home ground is Meggetland, in southwest Edinburgh and the club plays in the , where they are known as the Boroughmuir Bears. Founded in 1919 and admitted to the SRU in 1939, it was originally restricted to former pupils of Boroughmuir High School. The badge is derived from Boroughmuir High School and they acquired it in 1913. Although it has lost that direct connection, the home ground and navy blue/emerald colours are unchanged. The club won the Scottish unofficial club rugby championship in the 1954–55 and 1972–73 seasons. The club have the second longest number of seasons in the top division having only been relegated twice and on both occasions bouncing straight back up to the top division.
