California Cursed
''California Cursed'' is the debut studio album by American hardcore punk band, Drain. The album was released through Revelation Records on April 10, 2020. Critical reception In a positive review, Conor Atkinson of ''Exclaim!'' gave ''California Cursed'' an 8 out of 10 saying that the band "write songs – like, ''real'' songs. The kind that have the power to transport your mind out of the dystopian nightmare we are all navigating, right into the Santa Cruz ocean waves or a mosh pit in Orange County." Atkinson concluded that "''California Cursed'' is short and sweet, but not in a way that will satisfy some algorithm. The band knows just what to say and just how to say (or scream) it." Drain (punk Band)
Drain is an American hardcore punk band formed in Santa Cruz, California in 2014. Beginning without a set musical style, the 2015 hiring of vocalist Sammy Ciaramitaro and bassist-turned-guitarist Cody Chavez led the band to embrace a crossover thrash sound. They have released two demos, three EPs and two full length albums. The '' New York Times'' credited Drain as a driving force of American hardcore's "renaissance" in the early 2020s. History Drain was formed in 2014, by drummer Tim Flegal and a number of other students at the University of California, Santa Cruz who played a variety of different music styles. This lineup had fractured by 2015, leading to Sammy Ciaramitaro and Cody Chavez joining the band on vocals and bass, respectively. This introduction led to the band's sound becoming increasingly indebted to hardcore punk. Soon after, Chavez instead became the band's guitarist. In 2016, they released their debut EP ''Over Thinking'', which was followed the next year b ...

Crossover Thrash
Crossover thrash (often abbreviated to crossover) is a fusion genre of thrash metal and hardcore punk. The genre lies on a continuum between heavy metal and hardcore punk. Other genres on the same continuum, such as metalcore and grindcore, may overlap with crossover thrash. Terminological ambiguity The genre is often confused with thrashcore, which is essentially a faster hardcore punk rather than a more punk-oriented form of metal."Powerviolence: The Dysfunctional Family of Bllleeeeaaauuurrrgghhh!!". ''Terrorizer'' no. 172. July 2008. p. 36-37. Throughout the early and mid 1980s, the term "thrash" was often used as a synonym for hardcore punk (as in the ''New York Thrash'' compilation of 1982). The term "thrashcore" to distinguish acts of the genre from others was not coined until at least 1993. Many crossover bands, such as D.R.I., began as influential thrashcore bands. The "-core" suffix of "thrashcore" is sometimes used to distinguish it from crossover thrash and thrash ...
