A drain is the primary vessel or conduit for unwanted water or waste liquids to be flumed away, either to a more useful area, funnelled into a receptacle, or run into sewers or stormwater mains as waste discharge to be released or processed. Sammy Drain
Sammy Drain (March 13, 1945 – July 22, 2016) was a guitarist from Seattle who was well known in the area and considered to be a legend. He also was a friend of rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix and jammed with him before Hendrix found fame. During his lifetime, he was a living link to Hendrix's youth years. During his career, he played with artists such as Albert Collins, Buddy Miles, Bobby Womack and Stevie Wonder. Drain was also a photographer, actor, and the co-founder of the Seattle Blues Society. Lauren Drain (born December 31, 1985) is a former member of the Westboro Baptist Church who wrote the 2013 book ''Banished'', which chronicles her experiences and eventual banishment from the church. Early life Drain was born in Tampa, Florida and lived in nearby Bradenton until age five, when she moved to Olathe, Kansas, with her father, Steve, who enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Kansas. Steve Drain first came into contact with Westboro while working on a documentary critical of the church. He eventually became a fervent convert, and his entire family followed him into the church. Lauren Drain was a member from 2001 until 2007, when she was excommunicated for questioning church doctrine and unauthorized contact with a Connecticut man seeking to learn more about the church. Job Henry Charles Drain VC (15 October 1895 – 26 July 1975) was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Biography Drain was born on 15 October 1895 in Barking, Essex. He was 18 years old, and a Driver in the 37th Battery, Royal Field Artillery, British Army during the First World War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC. Victoria Cross On 26 August 1914 at Le Cateau, France, when a captain (Douglas Reynolds) of the same battery was trying to recapture two guns, Driver Drain and another driver (Frederick Luke) volunteered to help and gave great assistance in the eventual saving of one of the guns. At the time they were under heavy artillery and infantry fire from the enemy who were only away. He later achieved the rank of Sergeant. He died on 26 July 1975. Jim Drain (born 1975) is an American mixed media artist. Drain often makes work collaboratively, first within the collective, Forcefield (1996–2002) and also with artists Elyse Allen, Ara Peterson, and Ben Russell, respectively. Life and work Drain was born in 1975 in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in 1998 with a B.F.A. degree in Sculpture. Geoffrey Drain
Geoffrey Ayrton Drain CBE (26 November 1918 – 2 April 1993) was a British trade union leader who was General Secretary of NALGO (the National and Local Government Officers Association) from 1973 to 1983, when it was the third largest trade union in the country. Born in Preston, Lancashire, Drain studied law at Queen Mary College, London. After serving in World War II, he became assistant secretary at the Institute of Hospital Administrators in 1946, and became active in the Labour Party, standing unsuccessfully as their candidate in Chippenham in the 1950 General Election. In 1952, he began working for Milton Antiseptic, before being called to the bar as a barrister in 1955.
