Calgary-Foothills is a provinces and territories of Canada, provincial electoral district (Canada), electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, Canada. It is located in the northwest corner of Calgary. It elected six consecutive Progressive Conservative MLAs from its creation in 1971 until ousted Premier of Alberta, Premier Jim Prentice disclaimed his winning seat on the 2015 general election night, later electing a member of the Wildrose in the following by-election. Foothills-Rocky View was a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada, mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from under the First Past the Post voting system 2004 to 2012. History The Foothills-Rocky View electoral district was located on the western rural edge of Calgary in southern Alberta. It was created in the 2003 electoral boundary re-distribution from the eastern portion of the electoral district of Banff-Cochrane and the western portion of the old electoral district of Airdrie-Rocky View which comprises the northern portion of the riding. The district is named after the Foothills of Southern Alberta and Rocky View County. The riding included part of the town of Cochrane, Bragg Creek and the Springbank area. Chestermere-Rocky View was a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada, mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first-past-the-post method of voting from 2012 to 2019. History Boundary history Chestermere-Rocky View was created from large portions of the old electoral district of Airdrie-Chestermere and Foothills-Rocky View in the 2010 Alberta boundary re-distribution. The district surrounds the western, northern and eastern boundaries of the city of Calgary. Calgary-Varsity is a provincial electoral district in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The district was created in 1993 and returns a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. It comprises the communities of Varsity, Dalhousie, Brentwood, Banff Trail, University Heights, Parkdale, Point Mckay, and Charleswood (part of the Triwood community which also includes Collingwood west of 19th St NW. Calgary-North West is a provincial electoral district in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The district was created in 1979 and is mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. History The electoral district was created in the 1979 boundary redistribution from the electoral district of Calgary-Foothills and a portion of old electoral district of Banff that had been annexed by new city of Calgary boundaries. The riding was split in half in the 2010 boundary redistribution as land on the east side became part of Calgary-Hawkwood. The south boundary also picked up some land from Calgary-Bow and the riding was extended west into land that belonged to Foothills-Rocky View where the city of Calgary had annexed land. Nose Hill Park
Nose Hill Park is a natural park in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta which covers over . It is the fourth-largest urban park in Canada, and one of the largest urban parks in North America. It is a municipal park, unlike Fish Creek, which is a provincial park. It was created in 1980. Wildlife The park is large enough to sustain large mammals like white-tailed deer and coyote as well as porcupine, northern pocket gophers, and Richardson's ground squirrels. Northern harriers and Swainson's hawks feed on smaller species such as mice and voles. Brentwood is a neighbourhood in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded by John Laurie Boulevard to the north, Crowchild Trail to the south, Shaganappi Trail to the west, and Brisbois Drive & Charleswood Drive on the east.
