Cadillac Center (Detroit People Mover)
Cadillac Center station is a Detroit People Mover station in Downtown Detroit, Michigan. It is located at the intersection of Gratiot Avenue and Library Street. The station takes its name from Cadillac Square, which is adjacent to the Campus Martius Park. It is partially covered by the One Campus Martius parking garage, which was built over the station and track in the early 2000s. The station and garage are connected on the ground level. The People Mover shut down temporarily on March 30, 2020, due to decreased ridership amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The system has since resumed service, but as of June 2022, Cadillac Center remains closed, with trains bypassing the station and continuing to Broadway. The system operates in a one-way loop on a single track encircling downtown Detroit, using Intermediate Capacity Transit System linear induction motor technology developed by the Urban Transportation Development Corporation. M-3 (Michigan Highway)
M-3 is a north–south state trunkline highway in the Detroit metropolitan area of the US state of Michigan. For most of its length, the trunkline is known as Gratiot Avenue (, ). The trunkline starts in Downtown Detroit and runs through the city in a northeasterly direction along one of Detroit's five major avenues. The highway passes several historic landmarks and through a historic district. It also connects residential neighborhoods on the city's east side with suburbs in Macomb County and downtown. Campus Martius Park ( ') is a re-established park in Downtown Detroit, Michigan. After the fire of 1805, Campus Martius (from the Latin for ''Field of Mars'', where Roman heroes walked) was the focal point of Judge Augustus Woodward's plans to rebuild the city. It was named for the principal square in Marietta, Ohio, the first capital of the Northwest Territories. Description The park is located at the intersection of Woodward Avenue and Michigan Avenue, four blocks south of Grand Circus Park. The original park covered several acres and was a major gathering area for citizens. The park was lost in the 1900s as the city's downtown was reconfigured to accommodate increased vehicular traffic. One Campus Martius is a building located in downtown Detroit, Michigan. It began construction in 2000 and was finished in 2003. It has seventeen floors in total, fifteen above-ground, and two below-ground, and has of office space. The high-rise was built as an office building with a restaurant, retail units, space for Compuware and a fitness center, as well as an atrium. The building now has Rocket Mortgage, Microsoft, Meridian Health, Plante Moran and Compuware as its major tenants. The building was constructed in the late-modernist architectural style, using glass, granite and limestone as its main materials.
