Caballero (cigarette)
Caballero is a Dutch brand of unfiltered cigarettes owned and manufactured by British American Tobacco. ''Caballero'' is the Spanish word for knight. History Caballero was founded shortly after World War II. In 1945, the Dutch advertising agency Prad (synonym for ''"progressive"'' and ''"advertising"'') was formed, and created the famous slogan ''"Caballero, anders dan andere."'' (''"Caballero, different than the others."'' in English) in which popular Dutchmen, mainly from the artistic parts of society, promoted the product (Ramses Shaffy, the young Jeroen Krabbé and Henk van Ulsen, who later claimed he never smoked, were a few examples). A song was also created by the Dutch amusement band Leedy Trio, called ''"Ay-ay-ay! -die Caballero"''. Belinda is a Dutch brand of cigarettes currently owned and manufactured by British American Tobacco. History Belinda was founded in the 1940s and quickly gained popularity in the Netherlands, especially amongst women (as it was targeted towards them) and the wealthy. During the period of 1946 until 1996, posters made by the Dutch artist were put on Dutch railway stations featuring the ''"Belinda Cigarette Girl"'' (''"Sigarettenmeisje van Belinda"'' in Dutch), along with other known brands at the time like Droste cocoa, the Hulshof purse company and the ''"Zwarte Beertjes"'' (''"Black Bears"'') adverts of Dutch artist, illustrator and graphic designer Dick Bruna. Tobacco smoking is the practice of burning tobacco and ingesting the resulting smoke. The smoke may be inhaled, as is done with cigarettes, or simply released from the mouth, as is generally done with pipes and cigars. The 1970 Tour de France was the 57th edition of the Tour de France, one of cycling's Grand Tours. It took place between 27 June and 19 July, with 23 stages covering a distance of . Zevenaar () is a municipality and a city in the Gelderland province, in the eastern Netherlands near the border with Germany. The guilder ( nl, gulden, ) or florin was the currency of the Netherlands from the 15th century until 2002, when it was replaced by the euro. The Dutch name ''gulden'' was a Middle Dutch adjective meaning "golden", and reflects the fact that, when first introduced in 1434, its value was about equal to (i.e., it was on par with) the Italian gold florin. Roxy was a Dutch cigarette brand that was manufactured by Royal Theodorus Niemeyer in Groningen, now owned by British American Tobacco. History Roxy was created on 19 March 1951 by Theodorus Niemeijer. Their slogan was ''"'n Roxy?....ja graag!"'' (''"a Roxy?....yes please!"''). The brand was developed specifically as a cigarette which contained lower tar and nicotine. Although in the advertising for the cigarette references to health damage by smoking were avoided, scientific publications about the effects of smoking led to the creation of this cigarette. The consumer consciously wanted a safer smoke. In 1962 the Consumentenbond did a comparative study of the tar and nicotine content in various cigarettes, in which Roxy had the lowest levels of tar and nicotine.
