CKTS
CKTS was an English language Canadian radio station located in Sherbrooke, Quebec. It broadcast on 900 kHz with a power of 10,000 watts as a class B station, using a directional antenna which had a slightly directional pattern during the day and a much tighter pattern at night, to protect Class-A clear-channel station XEW-AM in Mexico City at night. The station was shut down in 2006 by its owner, Corus Entertainment. History CKTS went on the air on July 1, 1946. The station originally broadcast on 1240 kHz, and was operated by Telegram Printing & Publishing, the owner of the local weekly ''Sherbrooke Telegram-Observer''. It was an affiliate of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's Trans-Canada Network by 1957. The station moved to 900 AM in 1959, and was sold to Telemedia in the late 1960s. CJMQ-FM
CJMQ-FM is a Canadian radio station. Based in Sherbrooke, Quebec, where it has studios in both downtown Sherbrooke and the borough of Lennoxville, the station broadcasts a community radio format targeted to Anglo-Quebecers in Sherbrooke and the Eastern Townships. The station broadcasts at a frequency of 88.9 FM in Sherbrooke, on the cable FM services of Vidéotron (103.9 FM) and Cogeco (104.7 FM), and on the Internet. Since the demise of CKTS in 1992, CJMQ is the only locally produced English-language broadcaster in the Eastern Townships. CJAD (800 AM) is a commercial radio station operating in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The station has an English language news/talk radio format and identifies itself on-air as ''CJAD 800''. Owned and operated by Bell Media, it has a daytime power of 50,000 watts but reduces power to 10,000 watts at night to avoid interfering with other stations on AM 800. The transmitter is located near Saint-Edouard, while studios and offices are located on Rene-Levesque Boulevard East in Downtown Montreal. Telemedia
Telemedia was a Canadian media company, which had holdings in radio, television and magazine publishing. The company was launched in 1968 by Philippe de Gaspé Beaubien, when he purchased CKAC in Montreal from Power Corporation of Canada. CKAC remained the company's radio flagship for its entire existence. Telemedia was held privately until it became publicly traded in the late 1980s. Telemedia's magazine assets, including ''Canadian Living'', ''Harrowsmith'', ''Homemakers'' and the Canadian editions of ''TV Guide'' and ''Elle'', were sold to Transcontinental Media in 2000.
