CKAR-FM, is a community radio station which is operating as Hunters Bay Radio (The Bay) at 88.7 MHz ( FM) in Huntsville, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the District Municipality of Muskoka. The Bay was originally created in 2010 as an online internet radio station, Hunters Bay Radio received approval by the CRTC on November 21, 2013, to operate a terrestrial radio station at 88.7 MHz, with an average effective radiated power of 5,700 watts (non directional antenna with an effective height of antenna above average terrain of 182.1 metres). The station would eventually be issued its call sign, CKAR-FM. Hunters Bay Radio transitioned to FM on May 18, 2014. In 2017 The Bay added studios in Gravenhurst, Ontario at the Sawdust City Brewery and broadcast live from time to time, with Gravenhurst focused talk shows provided volunteers. CKDO (1580 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, serving the eastern suburbs of the Greater Toronto Area. The station airs a classic hits/oldies format and is owned by Durham Radio Inc. CKDO is one of only two radio stations in Canada that broadcast on 1580 kHz. The other is CBPK, a 50-watt weather information station in Revelstoke, British Columbia. CKDO is powered at 10,000 watts, using a directional antenna with a two-tower array. CFBK-FM is a Canadian radio station that airs at 105.5 FM in Huntsville, Ontario with an adult hits format branded as 105.5 Moose FM. CFBK began broadcasting in 1958 as CKAR on the AM band at 590 kHz with a repeater in Parry Sound known as CKAR-1. In 1961, CKAR moved to 630 kHz and in 1977 became CFBK. In September 1987, the station converted to the FM band at 105.5 MHz and the old AM 630 frequency left the air for good on December 31 the same year. Armstrong ( 2016 Population 1,166) is a township in the Timiskaming District of Ontario. The only population centre in the township is the community of Earlton.
