CJMS was a French language Canadian radio station located in Saint-Constant, Quebec (suburb of Montreal). It broadcast on 1040 kHz with a daytime power of 10,000 watts and a nighttime power of 5,000 watts as a class B station, using a directional antenna with the same directional pattern day and night to protect WHO in Des Moines, Iowa. It transmitted from the same site CKGM used when it was on 980 kHz near Autoroute 30 in Saint-Constant. The station had a format which was part-time country music and part-time talk and infomercials. Despite having advertising itself as a country-formatted station, it was generally viewed as a talk/infomercial station which airs country music in non-key dayparts. CJMS (1280 kHz) was a French language Canadian radio station located in Montreal, Quebec. The station went on the air on April 25, 1954. CJMS got an FM sister station in 1964 as CJMS-FM (later CKMF-FM) began operations. The AM station adopted a highly popular Top 40 format in the 1960s and became the flagship of the (now-defunct) Radiomutuel network in 1969. The Top 40 format remained popular until the late 1970s, but it started to lose listeners rapidly in the early 1980s due to the increasing availability and popularity of FM radio. CFZZ-FM is a French-language Canadian radio station located in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec and serving Greater Montreal as a rimshot signal. Owned and operated by Bell Media, it is part of the "Boom" network. As such, the station has an oldies format. Originally known as CHRS, the station operated on 1090 kHz as one of the very few daytime-only stations in Canada. Thanks to errors from BBM, CHRS once managed in the 1970s a third-place in ratings during evenings—a time when the station was not even on the air. The North American Ice Storm of 1998 (also known as Great Ice Storm of 1998) was a massive combination of five smaller successive ice storms in January 1998 that struck a relatively narrow swath of land from eastern Ontario to southern Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia in Canada, and bordering areas from northern New York to central Maine in the United States. Sorel-Tracy (; ) is a city in southwestern Quebec, Canada and the geographical end point of the Champlain Valley. It is located at the confluence of the Richelieu River and the St. Lawrence River, on the western edge of Lac Saint-Pierre, downstream and northeast of Montreal.
