CJFO-FM (branded as ''94,5 Unique FM'') is a radio station which broadcasts a francophone community radio format on the frequency 94.5 FM/MHz in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Owned by Radio de la communauté francophone d'Ottawa (RCFO), the station received CRTC approval on February 4, 2010. The station officially launched at 6 a.m. on November 15, 2010 after a testing period that began in September 2010. While the Ottawa- Gatineau market is served by several francophone stations, CJFO is the first station in the market targeted specifically to the Franco-Ontarian audience in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario. The commercial francophone outlets are licensed to Gatineau and primarily target listeners on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River. The Radio-Canada outlets focus on not only the National Capital Region, but Canada as a whole. The station is the francophone radio broadcast partner for the Ottawa Senators and the Ottawa Titans. Ottawa Senators
The Ottawa Senators (french: Sénateurs d'Ottawa), officially the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club and colloquially known as the Sens, are a professional ice hockey team based in Ottawa. They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference, and play their home games at the 18,652-seat Canadian Tire Centre, which opened in 1996 as the Palladium. Franco-Ontarians (french: Franco-Ontariens or if female, sometimes known as ''Ontarois'' and ''Ontaroises'') are Francophone Canadians that reside in the province of Ontario. The Alliance des radios communautaires du Canada is a Canadian organization, which serves as a coordinating body for French-language community radio stations in the regions of English Canada, where French speakers are in the minority. James Moore (Canadian Politician)
James Moore (born June 10, 1976) is a Canadian politician who formerly served as the Minister of Industry in the cabinet of Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Moore was the Conservative Member of Parliament from 2000 to 2015, representing Port Moody—Coquitlam—Port Coquitlam (2000-2004) and then Port Moody—Westwood—Port Coquitlam (2004-2015). He also served as Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages and as the Secretary of State for Official Languages, Pacific Gateway and the Vancouver-Whistler Olympics before becoming Industry Minister. Astral Media
Astral Media Inc. was a Canadian media conglomerate. It was Canada's largest radio broadcaster, with 84 radio stations in eight provinces. Astral was also a major player in premium and specialty television in Canada, with 23 specialty channels and two conventional stations. In addition, Astral had a presence in out-of-home advertising. In March 2012, Bell Media announced its intent to acquire Astral for $3.38 billion. Although an attempt to purchase the entirety of the company was blocked under competition law, the CRTC approved a revised offer on June 27, 2013, which saw various Astral specialty channels and radio stations divested to competitors.
