CF Montréal U23
CF Montréal U23, formerly Montreal Impact U23, is a Canadian soccer team based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada that plays in the Première ligue de soccer du Québec. They are the reserve club of Major League Soccer club CF Montréal and represent the highest team of the CF Montréal Academy. Previously known as Montreal Impact U23, in 2014, they played in the Premier Development League, the fourth tier. The team was replaced the following year with FC Montreal in the professional second-tier USL Pro. In 2020, it was announced that the U23 team would be re-started for the 2021 season. History From 2010 to 2012, the Montreal Impact Academy fielded their U21 team in the Canadian Soccer League, which was recognized as a tier 3 league in the Canadian soccer league system. Giuseppe "Joey" Saputo (born September 25, 1964) is a Canadian businessman and the president of CF Montréal soccer team he founded in 1992, and Saputo Stadium, named after his family's dairy products company Saputo Inc. He is also the chairman of the Italian football club Bologna FC 1909. Family Saputo is the son of Emanuele "Lino" Saputo, the founder, former chairman & CEO, and majority shareholder of Saputo Inc., a Canadian dairy products company that also markets a range of other items including spaghetti sauce. Jérémy Gagnon-Laparé (born March 9, 1995) is a Canadian professional soccer player who currently plays for HFX Wanderers. Club career Early career Gagnon-Laparé joined the Montreal Impact youth academy in 2011. In 2012, he would play with the academy's senior team in the first division of the Canadian Soccer League. He would help Montreal secure a playoff berth by finishing second in the division. In the preliminary round of the postseason, the senior team defeated Toronto FC's senior academy team. Louis Béland-Goyette (born September 15, 1995) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder. Club career Montreal Impact Béland-Goyette began 2014 with USL PDL club Montreal Impact U23, where he made 8 appearances. He signed his first professional contract with the Montreal Impact on September 12, 2014. He made his debut as a 75th-minute substitute during a 1-2 loss to the New England Revolution a day later on September 13. The 2014 USL Premier Development League season was the 20th season of the PDL. The regular season began on May 3 and ended July 20. The regular season was followed by a postseason tournament of conference winners to determine the league's champion. Sunusi Ibrahim (born 1 October 2002) is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Major League Soccer club CF Montréal. Rida Zouhir-Takedam (born November 23, 2003) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for CF Montréal. Early life Zouhir is of Moroccan descent.
