CFBO-FM (90.7 MHz) is a French-language Canadian radio station broadcasting in Moncton, New Brunswick. The station airs a hot adult contemporary/community radio format branded as ''Plus 90.7''. Its studios are located at the Arts and Cultural centre in Dieppe. Owned by Radio Beauséjour Inc., the station was licensed in 2004. However, an article in the October 6, 2008 edition of the Northeast Radio Watch (NERW) stated that there's a new signal in Moncton operating at 90.7 FM, known as ''BO-FM 90.7'' with a French adult contemporary format. The CFBO call letters were first used from 1928 to 1934 for a Saint John, radio station. After a change of ownership in 1934, the call letters changed to CHSJ and was heard at the 1120 kHz frequency. In 1945, the frequency moved to 1150 kHz. The Alliance des radios communautaires du Canada is a Canadian organization, which serves as a coordinating body for French-language community radio stations in the regions of English Canada, where French speakers are in the minority. Founded in 1991, the organization supports the development and maintenance of French-language community radio in Canada through lobbying, advocacy, management support, training and syndication of programming. The organization cooperates with, but operates separately from, the Association des radiodiffuseurs communautaires du Québec for community radio stations in Quebec. Adult contemporary music (AC) is a form of radio-played popular music, ranging from 1960s vocal and 1970s soft rock music to predominantly ballad-heavy music of the present day, with varying degrees of easy listening, pop, soul, R&B, quiet storm and rock influence. CHSJ-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 94.1 FM in Saint John, New Brunswick. The station plays a country format under the ''Country 94'' branding. CHSJ is owned by Acadia Broadcasting, which also owns sister station CHWV-FM. History Originally known as CFBO, CHSJ's first broadcast was at 890 AM in March 1928, under the ownership of C.A. Munro Limited. The current call letters were adopted in 1934 when four Saint John newspaper publishing shareholders — Howard P. Robinson, J.D. McKenna, T. F. Drummie and L. W. In broadcasting and radio communications, a call sign (also known as a call name or call letters—and historically as a call signal—or abbreviated as a call) is a unique identifier for a transmitter station. A call sign can be formally assigned by a government agency, informally adopted by individuals or organizations, or even cryptographically encoded to disguise a station's identity. The use of call signs as unique identifiers dates to the landline railroad telegraph system. Because there was only one telegraph line linking all railroad stations, there needed to be a way to address each one when sending a telegram. Dieppe () is a city in the Canadian maritime province of New Brunswick. Statistics Canada counted the population at 28,114 in 2021, making it the fourth-largest city in the province.
