The Chevrolet Engineering Research Vehicle (CERV) is a series of Chevrolet experimental cars. Chevrolet Staff engineer, designer, and race car driver Zora Arkus-Duntov started development of the CERV I in 1959, and began work on the CERV II in 1963. Chevrolet chief engineer Don Runkle and Lotus' Tony Rudd discussed creating a new show car to demonstrate their engineering expertise in 1985; It would become the CERV III. Corvette chief engineer Dave Hill unveiled the CERV IV in 1993, a test vehicle for the 1997 C5 Corvette. Jerry Palmer
Jerry Palmer is a retired automotive designer. Career Palmer graduated from the College for Creative Studies in 1966, and immediately started working for General Motors' design studios. He was appointed chief designer at Chevrolet III Studio in 1974, later being promoted to GM's Advance Design division in 1986, director of the Thousand Oaks Advance Concept Centre in 1990, and finally executive director of design. "Palmer retired in 2002 as the executive director of design for General Motors (GM) North American Operations. In this position, he oversaw the interior and exterior design of all of GM’s production vehicles." A concept car (also known as a concept vehicle, show vehicle or prototype) is a car made to showcase new styling and/or new technology. They are often exhibited at motor shows to gauge customer reaction to new and radical designs which may or may not be mass-produced. General Motors designer Harley Earl is generally credited with inventing the concept car, and did much to popularize it through its traveling Motorama shows of the 1950s. Concept cars never go into production directly. Barrett-Jackson is an American collector car auction company headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was founded by Scottsdale business partners Tom Barrett and Russ Jackson. They initially launched a car show, Fiesta de los Autos Elegantes, in 1967 to raise money for local facilities. The first Barrett-Jackson auction, originally meant as a one-time event, was held in December 1971. Due to its success, it became an annual event, eventually prompting the creation of other collector car auctions in the Scottsdale area. ''Test Drive III: The Passion'' is a racing video game developed and published by Accolade in 1990 for MS-DOS. It is the third game in the ''Test Drive'' series. While the first two ''Test Drive'' titles were developed by Distinctive Software, the third one was developed in-house at Accolade. This resulted in many differences from the first two games. Gameplay Unlike the first two titles, the third game has the concept of a free landscape; the player does not have to drive on a preset course. Briggs Swift Cunningham II (January 19, 1907 – July 2, 2003) was an American entrepreneur and sportsman. He is best known for skippering the yacht ''Columbia'' to victory in the 1958 America's Cup race, and for his efforts as a driver, team owner, and constructor in sports car racing, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Anatole Carl "Tony" Lapine (born 23 May 1930 in Riga, Latvia, died 29 April 2012 in Baden-Baden, Germany) was an automotive designer and racing driver. Lapine worked for General Motors (GM), Opel, and Porsche. During his time as chief designer at Porsche he oversaw development of the front-engined, water-cooled 928, 924 and 944 that began to appear in the mid to late 1970s, as well as two revisions to the Porsche 911. Biography Early years Lapine's earliest years were spent living in Riga, the capital of Latvia.
