CDP Awards
The CDP Awards are a series of annual sporting awards given by the Sports Confederation of Portugal (''Confederação do Desporto de Portugal'', CDP) to highlight sporting achievements over the preceding year. In addition to honouring athletes and coaches nominated by the national sporting federations within Portugal, awards determined in-part by public voting are also presented. There are currently five awards open to voter participation: Sportsman of the Year, Sportswoman of the Year, and Coach of the Year awards, which were introduced in 2005, and the Young Promise and Team of the Year awards, introduced in 2006 and 2007 respectively. The awards are presented at a ceremony held at the Casino Estoril in Cascais. Nomination procedure Contenders for the five awards subject to a public vote are first nominated by the national federation of the sport in which the athlete competes. Jéssica Augusto
Jéssica de Barros Augusto, (born 8 November 1981) is a Portuguese runner who competes in cross country running, cross country, road running and in middle distance running, middle-distance and long-distance track events. At club level, she represents Sporting Clube de Portugal (athletics), Sporting CP. Augusto has enjoyed much success at the European Cross Country Championships. She won the event in 2010, was the runner-up in 2008, and shared in the team gold on three occasions. She was the first European-born runner to finish at the 2010 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, although she was 21st overall. Road bicycle racing is the cycle sport discipline of road cycling, held primarily on Road surface, paved roads. João Pedro Silva (triathlete)
João Pedro Lopes da Silva (born 15 May 1989) is a Portuguese professional triathlete. He was European U-23 Champion in 2008, 2010 and 2011, National Junior Champion in 2006 and 2007 and the National U-23 Champion in 2008. At the 2012 Summer Olympics Silva placed 9th thus becoming the most decorated male triathlete in Portuguese history. On 23 January 2013, Silva joined S.L. Benfica's triathlon team. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Michelle Larcher de Brito (born 29 January 1993) is a Portuguese former professional tennis player. She is the former Portuguese No. 1.
