The Computer Originated World (COW) was the method of creating the BBC1 symbol that was used between 18 February 1985 and 16 February 1991. It was later used by the international, commercial television service BBC World Service Television from its launch until 26 January 1995. BBC1 Launch The Computer Originated World replaced the previous ''Noddy'' globe symbols at 7 pm on 18 February 1985. Unusually, the new look was unveiled whilst the channel was still on the air rather than waiting for the following morning to launch it. Caloric Reflex Test
In medicine, the caloric reflex test (sometimes termed vestibular caloric stimulation) is a test of the vestibulo-ocular reflex that involves irrigating cold or warm water or air into the external auditory canal. This method was developed by Robert Bárány, who won a Nobel prize in 1914 for this discovery. Utility The test is commonly used by physicians, audiologists and other trained professionals to validate a diagnosis of asymmetric function in the peripheral vestibular system. Cow-calf
In rail transport, a cow-calf (also cow and calf) locomotive is a set of switcher-type diesel locomotives. The set usually is a pair; some 3-unit sets (with two calves, also known as herds) were built, but this was rare. A cow is equipped with a driving cab; a calf is not. The two are coupled together (either with regular couplers or a semi-permanent drawbar) and are connected with MU cables and brake lines so that both locomotive units can be operated from the single cab. Cows are analogous to A units and calves to B unit road locomotives. Both have prime movers. Like the early EMD FT locomotives, the Cow-calf sets were typically built as mated pairs, with the Cow (or cabbed unit) and calf (or cabless unit) sharing a number. Cowdenbeath railway station is a railway station in the town of Cowdenbeath, Fife, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and is on the Fife Circle Line, north of . The station can be accessed via two steep ramps from either the east side of the High Street, or Station Road, and there is a footbridge connecting the platforms. Crude Oil Washing
Crude oil washing (COW) is washing out the residue from the oil tanker using the crude oil cargo itself, after the cargo tanks have been emptied. Crude oil is pumped back and preheated in the slop tanks, then sprayed back via high pressure nozzles in the cargo tanks onto the walls of the tank. Due to the sticky nature of the crude oil, the oil clings to the tank walls, and such oil adds to the cargo 'remaining on board' (the ROB). By COWing the tanks, the amount of ROB is significantly reduced, and with the current high cost of oil, the financial savings are significant, both for the Charterer and the Shipowner. If the cargo ROB is deemed as 'liquid and pumpable' then the charterers can claim from the owner for any cargo loss for normally between 0.3% up to 0.5%. Cow Hell Swamp (also called Cow Hell) is a swamp in the U.S. state of Georgia. The swamp is located along the eastern bank of the Oconee river near the mouth of Buckeye creek in northern Laurens County, with a small portion of the swamp extending north into the southern portion of Johnson County. Cow Hell Swamp is on the opposite side of the Oconee river from Beaverdam Swamp, which is located on the western bank of the Oconee river. Cow Hell Swamp has a surface area of approximately and a surface elevation of above sea level. The nearest town is Dublin, Georgia, the northernmost city limits of which is south of the swamp. ''COW / Chill Out, World!'' is the fourteenth studio album by ambient house group the Orb. The album was released on 14 October 2016 via the Kompakt label. The album was announced alongside the announcement of a full UK tour taking place between 24 November and 10 December 2016 for their 25th anniversary celebration of their debut album ''The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld'' after their successful one-off show at the Electric Brixton on 29 July 2016. Background ''COW / Chill Out, World!'' was recorded and produced in six months. Alex Paterson's recording of sounds using his iPhone whilst touring the world, straight to Ableton, was one of main reasons for its speedy completion.
