C.F. Orgullo Reynosa
Club de Fútbol Orgullo Reynosa is a Mexican professional football team based in Reynosa, Tamaulipas that will play in the Liga Premier de México starting in the 2023–24 season. History In 2020, the city of Reynosa was left without representation in Mexican soccer after the dissolution of Atlético Reynosa, a team that played in the third–tier of Mexican football. Later, some teams from the city emerged in the Liga TDP, the fourth division of Mexican football, although without popular repercussion. In May 2023, Alebrijes UABJO won the Serie B de México champions trophy, thus obtaining the right to have a place in Serie A, however, as it is a team affiliated with a club from one division higher, it could be sold due to lack of budget to maintain it. On June 15, 2023, it was announced that a group of businessmen from Reynosa, Tamaulipas bought Alebrijes UABJO, the team was relocated to that city and renamed as ''Club de Fútbol Reynosa''. Reynosa
Reynosa () is a border city in the northern part of the state of Tamaulipas, in Mexico. It is also the municipal seat of Reynosa Municipality. The city is located on the southern bank of the Rio Grande in the international Reynosa–McAllen Metropolitan Area, directly across of the Mexico-U.S. border from Hidalgo, Texas. As of 2013, the city of Reynosa has a population of 672,183. If the floating population is included in the census count, the population can reach up to approximately 1,000,000. History Reynosa was founded on 14 March 1749 with 297 inhabitants by Carlos Cantú under the command of José de Escandón y Helguera the Count of Sierra Gorda. The Serie A has 33 teams (1 Liga MX Reserve Team, 3 Liga de Expansión MX Reserve Teams and 29 Serie A Teams) divided into two groups. For the 2022–23 season, it will be a return of two short tournaments consisting of 10 total matches played home & away and the liguilla. Atlético Reynosa
The Atlético Reynosa Fútbol Club, is a Mexican football club based in the city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. The club was founded on 2012 as ''Reynosa Fútbol Club'', in 2017 was rebranded. Between 2012 and 2020 the team played at Serie A of Liga Premier. From 2020, the team went into hiatus due to financial difficulties and stopped participating in Mexican football indefinitely, but without being dissolved. In 2022 the team's license was sold to C.D.S. Tampico Madero, so any possibility of the return of Atlético Reynosa was eliminated. Liga TDP
The Liga TDP is Mexico's fourth tier in the Mexican League System. The Liga TDP is divided into 17 groups. For the 2009/2010 season, the format of the tournament has been reorganized to a home and away format, which all teams will play in their respective group. The 17 groups consist of teams which are eligible to play in the liguilla de ascenso for three promotion spots, teams which are affiliated with teams in the Liga MX, Liga de Expansión MX and Liga Premier, which are not eligible for promotion but will play that who the better filial team in a sixteen team filial playoff tournament for the entire season.
