Alian District
Alian District () is a rural District (Taiwan), district in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. History After the Retrocession Day, handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China (1912–1949), Republic of China in 1945, Alian was organized as a Township (Taiwan), rural township of Kaohsiung County. On December 25, 2010, Kaohsiung County was merged with Kaohsiung City and Alian was upgraded to a District (Taiwan), district of the Special municipality (Taiwan), city. Geography The district is located at the northeast of the Kaohsiung Plain on the north end of western Kaohsiung City, between the Erren River and the Agongdian River. Administrative divisions The district consists of Shian, Zhonglu, Fengshan, Ganghou, Gangshan, Alian, Qinglian, Helian, Jingqi, Fuan, Yuku and Nanlian Village. Districts are administrative subdivisions of the Taiwan, Republic of China (Taiwan)'s special municipality (Taiwan), special municipalities of the second level and provincial city (Taiwan), provincial cities of the third level formerly under its Provinces of China, provinces. There are two types of district in the administrative scheme. Provincial Highway 19 (Taiwan)
Provincial Highway 19 (PH 19, ) is a north–south highway from Changhua City in Changhua County to Yongkang in Tainan City. The highway is known as Central Highway (中央公路). Gangshan District
Gangshan District (, Hakka: Kông-sân-khî), is a suburban district in Kaohsiung City in southern Taiwan. It has 95,128 inhabitants in 2022. The township is part of the suburbs of Kaohsiung City which encompass 10 cities (or townships) out of 18 in the official Kaohsiung Metro Area. History and Names In 1920, during the Japanese era, the town of A-kong-tien (阿公店; ) was renamed and made the site of an airbase. Administratively Okayama Town covered modern day Gangshan District and Ciaotou District and was under Okayama District, Takao Prefecture. The town suffered heavy bombardment in World War II. Following the Surrender of Japan and handover to the Kuomintang, the government continued to use the same name (岡山), but transliterated using Mandarin (Gangshan). Guanmiao District () is a rural district in southeastern Tainan, Taiwan. History After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, Guanmiao was organized as a rural township of Tainan County. On 25 December 2010, Tainan County was merged with Tainan City and Guanmiao was upgraded to a district of the city. Sinhua District, United States National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (), alternatively spelled Xinhua, is a suburban district in central Tainan, Taiwan. History Before the Dutch and Han Chinese invaded, this region was home to a community of Taiwanese aborigines, the Siraya. In 1624, the VOC occupied Tayuan (modern day Anping, Tainan). In the past, the Siraya indigenous tribe called this place Tavocan ("land of hill and forest").
