Milo Đukanović ( cnr, Мило Ђукановић, ; born 15 February 1962) is a Montenegrin politician serving as the President of Montenegro since 2018, previously serving in the role from 1998 to 2003. He also served as the Prime Minister of Montenegro (1991–1998, 2003–2006, 2008–2010 and 2012–2016) and is the long-term president of the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro, originally the Montenegrin branch of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia, which governed Montenegro alone or in a coalition from the introduction of multi-party politics in the early 1990s until its defeat in the 2020 parliamentary election. Jakov Milatović ( sr-cyrl, Јаков Милатовић, ; born 7 December 1986) is a Montenegrin politician and economist who is the incumbent president of Montenegro, serving since May 2023. He previously served as the minister of economic development in the cabinet of Zdravko Krivokapić from 2020 to 2022, and as an economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London and Podgorica. He is the co-founder and deputy leader of the liberal and pro-European Europe Now! party, currently the largest single political party in the Montenegrin parliament. Dritan Abazović (, sq, Dritan Abazi; born 25 December 1985) is a Montenegrin politician who has been the prime minister of Montenegro since 28 April 2022. An ethnic Albanian, he heads the United Reform Action party. He previously served as deputy prime minister in the cabinet of Zdravko Krivokapić from 2020 until 2022. Abazovic is the first ethnic Albanian to serve as Prime Minister of Montenegro. He is currently the third-youngest head of government in the world. COVID-19 Pandemic In Montenegro
The COVID-19 pandemic in Montenegro has resulted in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and deaths. The first case of the disease in Montenegro was confirmed on 17 March 2020, making it the last European country to register a case of SARS-CoV-2. On 24 May 2020, 68 days after the first case was recorded in Montenegro, it became the first COVID-19-free country in Europe. Within the first outbreak, indexed cases counted 9% of the total reported, 80% of cases were infected due to contact with primary cases, while the origin of infection of the other 11% of cases was not certain. Presidential elections are expected to be held in Montenegro in April 2023 to elect the President of Montenegro. Previous elections held in 2018 were won by Milo Đukanović, leader of then ruling DPS, with 53.90% of the vote in the first round. Electoral system The President of Montenegro is elected using the two-round system; if no candidate receives a majority of the vote in the first round, a run-off is held two weeks later. In order to submit their candidacy to the State Electoral Commission, potential candidates need to collect 7,993 signatures. The 2022–23 Montenegrin First League was the 17th season of the first tier association football in the country of Montenegro. The season began on 23 July 2022 and ended on 25 May 2023. The winners of the league qualified for a place in the 2023–24 UEFA Champions League. FK Sutjeska Nikšić, Sutjeska were the defending champions having won the league in the previous season. The 2022–23 BIBL season is the 15th edition of Balkan International Basketball League (BIBL). The first match in the group stage is expected to take place in October 2022. Teams from Israel, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Kosovo and Ukraine are expected to participate in this competition. Format Seven teams will play against each other home-and-away basis.
