2020–21 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2020–21 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's basketball season began with practices in October 2020, followed by the start of the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season on November 25. Conference play started in December and concluded in March 2021. This season was the 40th season of MAAC basketball. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, the MAAC revised their scheduling policy for conference games as follows: * A 20-game double round robin conference schedule with five home series and five away series for each team. * A Friday/Saturday playing schedule at the same venue for both games, with 24 hours of spacing between the two contests. Gregory Russell Paulus (born July 3, 1986) is an American basketball coach and former player who is the head coach of the Niagara Purple Eagles men's basketball team. He previously served as an assistant basketball coach for Louisville, Ohio State, and George Washington University. The Vanderbilt Commodores men's basketball team represents Vanderbilt University in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). King David Rice (born December 14, 1968) is an American basketball coach and former player. He is the head men's basketball coach at Monmouth University. John Dunne (basketball)
John Dunne (born June 11, 1970) is an American college basketball coach and current head men's basketball coach at Marist College. He was previously an assistant coach at Adelphi University under Steve Clifford and at Seton Hall University under Louis Orr. He also served as an assistant coach at Siena College. Dunne was born in Queens, New York and attended Archbishop Molloy High School, where he also played basketball. He played at the collegiate level at Ithaca College. Dunne was hired by Saint Peter's University as their men's basketball coach in 2006. Stephen John Masiello Jr. (born September 2, 1977) is an American college basketball coach and a former player. He most recently served as men's head coach at Manhattan College. Masiello is a native of White Plains, New York. He graduated from Iona Grammar School in 1991 and attended Archbishop Stepinac High School for two years before transferring to the Harvey School in Katonah. Jay Young (basketball)
Jay Young is an American basketball coach. He served as head coach of the Fairfield Stags men's basketball team from 2019 to 2023. Coaching career A 1986 Marist College graduate, Young played lacrosse for the Red Foxes where he was an all-conference selection. Immediately after college, Young took his first basketball coaching position at Fitchburg State, followed by a stint at Salem State, then to Northeastern. In 1992 he was named the head men's basketball coach at Newbury where he guided the Nighthawks to the 1995 NJCAA Division III Final Four and was also named District VI Coach of the Year in 1995 and Region XXI Coach of the Year in 1994 and 1995. Reggie Witherspoon (basketball)
Phillip Reginald Witherspoon (born February 21, 1961) is the head coach of the Canisius College men's basketball team and the former head coach of the University at Buffalo men's college basketball team. Witherspoon played college basketball at Erie Community College under John Beilein and then at Wheeling Jesuit under Jim O'Brien. He was the head coach at Erie Community College, and head coach and assistant coach at Sweet Home High School before he was hired as the interim head coach at Buffalo in December 1999. Witherspoon was named full-time head coach on March 10, 2000. He was the first African American named head coach of a varsity sports team in any Western New York suburban school district.
