2019–20 Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2019–20 Mountain West Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2019, followed by the start of the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play began in December 2019 and concluded in February 2020. This season marked the 20th season of Mountain West Conference basketball. Preseason Coaching changes On March 15, 2019, UNLV head coach Marvin Menzies was fired after three seasons. On March 27, 2019, South Dakota State head coach T. J. Otzelberger was announced as the new head coach of UNLV. On April 7, 2019, Nevada head coach Eric Musselman resigned after four seasons to become the head coach of Arkansas. On April 11, 2019, former UCLA and New Mexico head coach Steve Alford was announced as the new head coach of Nevada. Steve Alford
Stephen Todd Alford (born November 23, 1964) is an American men's college basketball coach and former professional player who is the head coach for the Nevada Wolf Pack of the Mountain West Conference (MWC). Born and raised in Indiana, he was a two-time consensus first-team All-American playing in college for the Indiana Hoosiers. He led them to a national championship in 1987. After playing professionally for four years in the National Basketball Association (NBA), he has been a college head coach for almost 30 years. Alford was named Indiana Mr. Basketball in high school before playing at Indiana University Bloomington under coach Bobby Knight. He helped the Hoosiers claim their fifth national championship, and finished his career as Indiana's all-time leading scorer. Alford was selected in the second round of the 1987 NBA draft by the Dallas Mavericks, and played four years in the league with Dallas and the Golden State Warriors. Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Player Of The Year
The Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year is a basketball award given to the Mountain West Conference's most outstanding player. The award was first given following the 1999–00 season, the first year of the conference's existence. As of 2022, no player has received the award multiple times. Two winners of the conference award were consensus national players of the year: Andrew Bogut of Utah (2005) and Jimmer Fredette of BYU (2011). Among current conference members, San Diego State has the most winners with five, with New Mexico in second place with four and Colorado State in third place with two. John R. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 - February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. Naismith College Player Of The Year
The Naismith College Player of the Year is an annual basketball award given by the Atlanta Tipoff Club to the top men's and women's collegiate basketball players. It is named in honor of Dr. James Naismith, the inventor of basketball. History and selection First awarded exclusively to male players in 1969, the award was expanded to include female players in 1983. Annually before the college season begins in November, a "watchlist" consisting of 50 players is chosen by the Atlanta Tipoff Club board of selectors, comprising head coaches, administrators and media members from across the United States. Neemias Esdras Barbosa Queta (born 13 July 1999) is a Portuguese professional basketball player for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA), on a two-way contract with the Stockton Kings of the NBA G League. Nicolás Eduardo "Nico" Carvacho Bibb (born January 24, 1997) is a Chilean-American professional basketball player for MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza of the PLK. He played college basketball for Colorado State. Early life Carvacho was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He is the son of Nicole and Eddie Carvacho, a professional soccer coach. Growing up, Carvacho preferred playing soccer to basketball, which he began playing at the age of nine. When he was 15, he moved to his father's native country of Chile to join a soccer club. A derrick is a lifting device composed at minimum of one guyed mast, as in a gin pole, which may be articulated over a load by adjusting its guys. Most derricks have at least two components, either a guyed mast or self-supporting tower, and a boom hinged at its base to provide articulation, as in a ''stiffleg'' derrick. The most basic type of derrick is controlled by three or four lines connected to the top of the mast, which allow it both to move laterally and cant up and down.
