Table Tennis
Table tennis, also known as ping-pong and whiff-whaff, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball, also known as the ping-pong ball, back and forth across a table using small solid rackets. It takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Except for the initial serve, the rules are generally as follows: Players must allow a ball played toward them to bounce once on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side. A point is scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions. Spinning the ball alters its trajectory and limits an opponent's options, giving the hitter a great advantage. Table tennis is governed by the worldwide organization International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), founded in 1926. ITTF currently includes 226 member associations. Table Tennis At The 2019 Pan American Games
Table tennis competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru are scheduled to be held between August 4 and 10, 2019 at the Polideportivo 3 located at the Villa Deportiva Nacional Videna. Seven medal events are scheduled to be contested, two singles events, three doubles events and two team events. All the doubles are additions to the sports program from four years ago in Toronto. Adriana Yamila Díaz González (born October 31, 2000) is a Puerto Rican table tennis player. she was ranked 3 (under age 21) and 11 in the Table Tennis World Ranking according to the International Table Tennis Federation. Díaz is sponsored by Butterfly and Adidas. Adriana is the sister of the table tennis player, Melanie Díaz, and cousin of Brian Afanador. International competition On April 1, 2016, Díaz made history becoming the first Puerto Rican female table tennis player to qualify for an Olympic Games. Hugo Calderano
Hugo Marinho Borges Calderano (born 22 June 1996, in Rio de Janeiro) is a table tennis player from Brazil. In January 2022, he peaked at number 3 in the world rankings, becoming the greatest Americas player of all time. He is the first-ever player from Latin America to reach the Top 10 of the ITTF World Rankings. Calderano is also well known for beating China's Fan Zhendong at the quarterfinals of the 2018 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals in Incheon, South Korea. Career 2021 In 2021, Calderano announced he was leaving the German Bundesliga and switching to the Russian Champion's league to focus more on international competition.
