2016–17 Cypriot First Division
The 2016–17 Cypriot First Division was the 78th season of the Cypriot top-level football league. The season began on 20 August 2016 and ended on 21 May 2017. The fixtures were announced on 7 July 2016. APOEL were the defending champions. APOEL were crowned champions for the 26th time and a fifth time in a row, securing the title after beating title arch-rivals Omonia 3–1 at the GSP Stadium on 13 May 2017. Teams Promotion and relegation (pre-season) Enosis Neon Paralimni and Ayia Napa were relegated at the end of the first-phase of the 2015–16 season after finishing in the bottom two places of the table. They were joined by Pafos FC, who finished at the bottom of the second-phase relegation group. Zenica
Zenica ( ; ; ) is a city in Bosnia and Herzegovina and an administrative and economic center of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Zenica-Doboj Canton. It is located in the Bosna (river), Bosna river valley, about north of Sarajevo. The city is known for its Ironworks Zenica factory but also as a significant University of Zenica, university center. Bilino Polje Stadium
Bilino Polje is the home football stadium of Bosnian Premier League football club NK Čelik from the city of Zenica in Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of two stadiums of the national football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Edin Džeko (; born 17 March 1986) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a striker for club Inter Milan and captains the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. Džeko was named Bosnian Footballer of the Year for three years in a row. He has been nicknamed "Bosnian Diamond" ( bs, Bosanski dijamant) or simply "Diamond" (''Dijamant'') by football fans and journalists in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Petros Mantalos ( el, Πέτρος Μάνταλος; born 31 August 1991) is a Greek professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Super League club AEK Athens and the Greece national team. Club career Skoda Xanthi Petros Mantalos began playing professional football for Superleague club Skoda Xanthi. He played a total of 90 games (15 goals, 10 assists) in all competitions and represented his country at under-19 and under-21 levels.
