Cairo
Cairo ( ; ar, القاهرة, al-Qāhirah, ) is the capital of Egypt and its largest city, home to 10 million people. It is also part of the largest urban agglomeration in Africa, the Arab world and the Middle East: The Greater Cairo metropolitan area, with a population of 21.9 million, is the 12th-largest in the world by population. Hamdi Al Banbi
Hamdi Al Banbi ( ar, حمدي علي عبد الوهاب البنبي) (1935–2016) was an Egyptian engineer, businessman and politician who served as oil minister from 1991 to 1999. Early life and education Banbi was born on 7 August 1935. He was a graduate of Cairo University where he received a degree in petroleum engineering in 1959. In 1960 he attended the University of Moscow and obtained a master of science degree in economics of petroleum engineering. He received his PhD in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University in 1963. Career Banbi was an engineer by training. After returning to Egypt he began to work at the Eastern Petroleum Company as a production engineer and served there until 1966 when he joined the faculty of engineering at Al Azhar University. From 1968 Banbi worked at the Western Desert Petroleum Company (WEPCO) where he became its general directorate of operations. Botroseya Church Bombing
On 11 December 2016, a suicide bomber killed 29 people and injured 47 others at St. Peter and St. Paul's Church (commonly known as El-Botroseya Church), a chapel next to Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral, seat of the Coptic Orthodox Pope, in Cairo's Abbasia district. Egypt's President, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, on Monday identified the bomber as 22-year-old Mahmoud Shafiq Mohammed Mustafa, who had worn a suicide vest. el-Sisi reported that three men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the attack; two others are being sought. Karpathos
Karpathos ( el, Κάρπαθος, ), also Carpathos, is the second largest of the Greek Dodecanese islands, in the southeastern Aegean Sea. Together with the neighboring smaller Saria Island it forms the municipality of Karpathos, which is part of the Karpathos regional unit. Because of its remote location, Karpathos has preserved many peculiarities of dress, customs and dialect, the last resembling those of Crete and Cyprus.
