2015–16 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2015–16 NEC men's basketball season began with practices in October 2015, followed by the start of the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play started in early January 2016 and will conclude in March with the 2016 Northeast Conference men's basketball tournament. Andrew Toole
Andrew Toole (born September 11, 1980) is an American basketball head coach from Staten Island, New York. He has served as the head coach at Robert Morris University since May 11, 2010 and is currently the 6th youngest head coach in Division I basketball. Toole had served as an assistant coach at Lafayette College and Robert Morris prior to accepting his first head coaching position. As a player, Toole played at Elon University before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania. Playing career Raised in Red Bank, New Jersey, Toole played high school basketball at Christian Brothers Academy, graduating in 1998. While at Penn, Toole helped guide the Quakers to consecutive NCAA tournament appearances in 2002 and 2003. He served as co-captain for the 2002-03 Quaker team that finished the regular season 22–6. Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Coach Of The Year
The Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Coach of the Year is a basketball award given to head coaches in the Northeast Conference (NEC). The award is presented to the head coach voted to be the most successful that season by the league's coaches. The award was first given following the 1982–83 season, the second year of the conference's existence, to Matt Furjanic of Robert Morris. Howie Dickenman of Central Connecticut has won the most awards with four. Bashir Mason of Wagner has won three, and seven other coaches have won the award twice. One former NEC Coach of the Year has been inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach: Jim Phelan (inducted 2001). Due to Phelan's success, in 2003 the NEC men's basketball coach of the year award was named in his honor. Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Player Of The Year
The Northeast Conference (NEC) Men's Basketball Player of the Year is an annual college basketball award given to the Northeast Conference's most outstanding player. The award was first given following the 1982–83 season, when the league was known as the ECAC Metro Conference. The most well-recognized NEC Player of the Year is Marist's Rik Smits, who won the award in 1987 and 1988. Smits went on to have a successful National Basketball Association (NBA) career for 12 seasons (1988–2000), all with the Indiana Pacers. In 1998, Smits was named an Eastern Conference All-Star. In 2021–22, Alex Morales of Wagner became just the fourth NEC player to be named Player of the Year for two consecutive seasons, and the first since Charles Jones of Long Island University in 1997 and 1998. 2015–16 Creighton Bluejays Men's Basketball Team
The 2015–16 Creighton Bluejays men's basketball team represented Creighton University in the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bluejays, led by sixth-year head coach Greg McDermott, played their home games at the CenturyLink Center Omaha, and were members of the Big East Conference. They finished the season 20–15, 9–9 in Big East play to finish in sixth place. They lost to Seton Hall in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament. UD Arena
University of Dayton Arena (commonly known as UD Arena) is a 13,409-seat multi-purpose arena located in Dayton, Ohio. The arena opened in 1969. It is home to the University of Dayton Flyers basketball teams. From 2001 to 2010, the facility hosted the annual "play-in" game in the NCAA men's basketball tournament (officially the "opening round" game) which featured the teams rated 64th and 65th in the tournament field. Beginning in 2011, when the tournament expanded to four opening-round games, the arena continued to host all "first four" games. Overall, the arena has hosted more men's NCAA Division I basketball tournament games than any other venue. The playing court is known as Blackburn Court, named after historic UD coach Tom Blackburn. The 2015–16 Florida Gulf Coast Eagles men's basketball team represented Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) in the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. FGCU was a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference. They played their home games at Alico Arena and were led by third year head coach Joe Dooley. They finished the season 21–14, 8–6 in A-Sun play to finish in a three-way tie for second place. They defeated Kennesaw State, North Florida, and Stetson to be champions of the A-Sun tournament. Isaiah Blackmon
Isaiah Michael Blackmon (born March 8, 1996) is an American professional basketball player who last played for Beşiktaş of the Basketball Super League (BSL). He played college basketball for the Saint Francis Red Flash. Early life and high school career Blackmon grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina and attended West Charlotte High School. Quincy McKnight
Quincy McKnight (born December 5, 1995) is an American professional basketball player who last played for Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Sacred Heart Pioneers and the Seton Hall Pirates. He grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut and attended St. Joseph High School before transferring to The Phelps School. McKnight played two seasons at Sacred Heart, where he was named to the First Team All-Northeast Conference, before transferring to Seton Hall. He was named Honorable Mention All-Big East after leading the team to a share of the league championship during his senior season. Bashir Mason
Bashir Mason (born February 11, 1984) is an American college basketball coach and current head men's basketball coach at Saint Peter's University. He was previously an assistant coach at Marist College in 2008, and an assistant coach at Wagner College in 2010. Mason played high school basketball St. Benedict's Preparatory School, then joined then head coach Bruiser Flint to play college basketball at Drexel University. He was a four-year starter for the Dragons, scoring over 1,000 points and handing out 471 assists as a point guard. He was a CAA all-defensive player every season, as well as the CAA's defensive player of the year as a freshman. Mason was hired by Wagner, in March 2012, as their 18th men's head basketball coach.
