2014–15 West Coast Conference Women's Basketball Season
The 2014–15 West Coast Conference women's basketball season began with practices in October 2014 and ended with the 2015 West Coast Conference women's basketball tournament at the Orleans Arena March 5–10, 2015 in Paradise, Nevada. The regular season began in November, with the conference schedule starting at the end of December. This was the 30th season for WCC women's basketball, which began in the 1985–86 season when the league was known as the West Coast Athletic Conference (WCAC). It was also the 26th season under the West Coast Conference name (the conference began as the California Basketball Association in 1952, became the WCAC in 1956, and dropped the word "Athletic" in 1989). Division I (NCAA)
NCAA Division I (D-I) is the highest level of intercollegiate athletics sanctioned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States, which accepts players globally. D-I schools include the major collegiate athletic powers, with large budgets, more elaborate facilities and more athletic scholarships than Divisions II and III as well as many smaller schools committed to the highest level of intercollegiate competition. The 2014–15 Pepperdine Waves women's basketball team will represent Pepperdine University in the 2014–15 college basketball season. The Waves, members of the West Coast Conference, are led by second year coach Ryan Weisenberg. The Waves play their home games at the Firestone Fieldhouse on the university campus in Malibu, California. They finished the season 8–22, 3–15 in WCC play to finish in ninth place. Paul Thomas (basketball)
Paul Bernard Thomas (born October 28, 1962) is an American college basketball coach who was most recently the women's basketball head coach at Saint Mary's College of California. He previously served as head coach at Hamline and Cal Poly Pomona. Originally from Creighton, Nebraska, Thomas graduated from Wayne State College in Nebraska and began his coaching career in 1985 as an assistant coach at Wayne State College and a local high school. Thomas had his first head coaching position from 1988 to 1990 at Hamline, a largely unsuccessful stint with only one win in two seasons. He moved to California to be an assistant coach at Cal Poly Pomona for four years before being promoted to head coach, a position he held from 1994 to 2006. Cheryl Elaine Sorenson (born March 18, 1980) was the women's basketball head coach for the Portland Pilots. In March 2019, Sorenson and the University of Portland parted ways. Early life Sorenson was born to Linda and Charles Sorenson in Portland, Oregon and she was the youngest of two children. She attended Clackamas High School where she competed in varsity basketball, volleyball, and track on the varsity team. While at Clackamas, Sorenson would be named to the Street and Smith's Honorable mention All-American basketball team during her junior season and the USA Today Honorable Mention team during her senior season. Ryan Weisenberg
Ryan Weisenberg (born January 21, 1975) is an American basketball coach who was the head coach of the Pepperdine Waves women's basketball team. Weisenberg attended St. Francis High School, a Catholic high school in La Cañada Flintridge, California, where he lettered in basketball, football, and baseball. Weisenberg attended Azusa Pacific University, receiving a master in education, and attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, receiving a Bachelor of Science. Weisenberg began his coaching career in 1995 at Mission Prep High School. Two years later, he spent some time as an assistant coach, video scout, and basketball camp director at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Lynne Roberts (basketball)
Lynne Renee Roberts (born August 28, 1975) is the women's basketball head coach at the University of Utah. She has also served as head coach at Chico State and Pacific. Early life and education Roberts was born and raised in Redding, California. She would attend Enterprise High where she would earn 12 varsity letters and was awarded the 1993 Northern Section Player of the Year. Roberts attended Seattle Pacific University, where she played for the Falcons.
