Torill Kove
Torill Kove (born 25 May 1958) is a Norwegian-born Canadian film director and animator. She won the 2007 Academy Award for Animated Short Film for the film ''The Danish Poet'', co-produced by Norway's Mikrofilm AS and the National Film Board of Canada (NFB). Life and career Born in Hamar, in the south of Norway near Oslo, Kove has lived in Montreal, Quebec, Canada since 1982. She moved to Montreal to continue her academic studies in urban planning at Concordia University earning a master's degree (MUP '89) at McGill University later changing her major to animation. Kove has previously stated that she in fact did not watch much animation until she was in her thirties. Unemployed in the fall of 1991, rather than look for work she spent time at the NFB's former public access facility on St. Denis Street, where every day she would watch films. Marjane Satrapi
Marjane Satrapi (; fa, مرجان ساتراپی ; born 22 November 1969) is a French-Iranian graphic novelist, cartoonist, illustrator, film director, and children's book author. Her best-known works include the graphic novel ''Persepolis'' and its film adaptation, the graphic novel '' Chicken with Plums'', and the Marie Curie biopic ''Radioactive''. Biography Satrapi was born in Rasht, Iran. She grew up in Tehran in a middle-class Iranian family and attended the French-language school, Lycée Razi. Both her parents were politically active and supported leftist causes against the monarchy of the last Shah. When the Iranian Revolution took place in 1979, they underwent rule by the Islamic fundamentalists who took power. Persepolis (film)
''Persepolis'' is a 2007 adult animated biographical drama film based upon Marjane Satrapi's autobiographical graphic novel of the same name. It was written and directed by Satrapi in collaboration with Vincent Paronnaud. The story follows a young girl as she comes of age against the backdrop of the Iranian Revolution. The title references the historical city of Persepolis. The film was an international co-production made by companies in France and Iran. It premiered at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival, where it co-won the Jury Prize, alongside ''Silent Light''. In her acceptance speech, Satrapi said "Although this film is universal, I wish to dedicate the prize to all Iranians." Vincent Paronnaud (born 20 February 1970), a.k.a. Winshluss, is a French comics artist and filmmaker. Biography Paronnaud was born in La Rochelle. He is French comic book writer and artist. ''Shorty McShorts' Shorts'' was an American animated anthology series, which consisted of 4-/5-minute shorts. It aired from July 28, 2006, to May 25, 2007. Summary The host of the show is Shorty McShorts. His name is often shortened to "Shorty" or "SMS", which appears on the hat that he wears. He also wears blue shorts and is the train conductor for his own Short Line. He appeared in advertisements for the show and in the introduction and conclusion of each short where he also does not appear in any of the shorts. The show takes the form of a Saturday morning cartoon as the shorts that are shown could very well be installments of their own miniseries.
