Christian X Of Denmark
Christian X ( da, Christian Carl Frederik Albert Alexander Vilhelm; 26 September 1870 – 20 April 1947) was King of Denmark from 1912 to his death in 1947, and the only King of Iceland as Kristján X, in the form of a personal union rather than a real union between 1918 and 1944. He was a member of the House of Glücksburg, a branch of the House of Oldenburg, and the first monarch since King Frederick VII born into the Danish royal family; both his father and his grandfather were born as princes of a ducal family from Schleswig. Among his siblings was King Haakon VII of Norway. His son became Frederick IX of Denmark. His character has been described as authoritarian and he strongly stressed the importance of royal dignity and power. His reluctance to fully embrace democracy resulted in the Easter Crisis of 1920, in which he dismissed the democratically elected Social Liberal cabinet with which he disagreed, and installed one of his own choosing. Anne Wolden-Ræthinge
Anne Wolden-Ræthinge, known by the pseudonym Ninka, (11 July 1929 – 22 April 2016) was a Danish broadcast and newspaper journalist, biographer and writer who specialised in interviews with high-profile figures. She first worked at the Copenhagen daily conservative newspaper ''Nationaltidende'' in 1951 and authored articles about women's issues at ' from 1954 to 1961 with contributions to '' Alt for Damerne''. Wolden-Ræthinge worked for the Sunday edition of the newspaper ''Politiken'' from 1961, covering social issues and then became the publication's leading interviewer for its feature articles. She was a 1974 recipient of the Cavling Prize and was made a Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog in 1991. Early life Wolden-Ræthinge was born in Gråsten in South Jutland on 11 July 1929. Karl Hansen Reistrup
Frederik Karl Kristian Hansen Reistrup (22 April 1863 – 18 March 1929) was a Danish sculptor, illustrator and ceramist. Reistrup is remembered for his important contribution to ceramics in particular for the ceramics he produced for Herman A. Kähler's pottery factory in Næstved. Biography Born at Valby, he studied ceramics while attending the Copenhagen Technical College in preparation for training under Carl Ferdinand Andersen at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (1881–82). He also attended the Académie Julian in Paris under Henri Chapu from 1885. After apprenticeships at the Kongelige Porcelainsfabrik and at the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres, he joined Herman A. Kähler at his ceramics factory in Næstved in 1888 where he became artistic director. He produced many successful designs, especially for vases and jugs, often finished in the ruby lustre glaze known as Kähler red. Hans Kaarsberg
Hans Kaarsberg (26 January 1854 – 16 March 1929) was a Denmark, Danish medical doctor, writer and adventurer. In 1890, he went on a one-man expedition to Kalmykia in search of the last remains of the Kalmyks, Kalmyk people. His account of the journey was published by Gyldendal in 1892. ''Among the Kalmyks of the Steppes on Horseback and by Troika: A Journey Made in 1890'', an English-language translation of the book, was published by the Mongolian Society in 1996. In 2021. prompted by ''Kaarsberg Mysteriet'', a five-episode DR (broadcaster), DR podcast created by Klaus Rothstein. Kaarsberg attracted renewed attention for having inspired a young Karen Blixen's interest in travels, hunting and writing. Peter Kristian Prytz
Peter Kristian Prytz (26 February 1851 - 4 March 1929) was a Danish physicist. He was a professor at the Technical University of Denmark from 1894 to 1921. Early life and education Prytz was born on 26 February 1851 in Årup at Torslev, the son of parish priest Peter Christian Prytz (1807–77) and Anna Eline Garben (1814-1906). He earned a degree in physics from the University of Copenhagen in 1875 and spent the next ten years teaching at schools in Copenhagen. Career In 1883, he volunteered as an assistant at a new course in experimental physics for engineers arranged by C. Christiansen. He became a teacher at the College of Advanced Technology in 1886 and was appointed professor in 1894. He was throughout his career also responsible for teaching experimental physics to physics students at the University of Copenhagen. Agner Krarup Erlang (1 January 1878 – 3 February 1929) was a Denmark, Danish mathematician, statistician and engineer, who invented the fields of teletraffic engineering, traffic engineering and queueing theory. By the time of his relatively early death at the age of 51, Erlang had created the field of PSTN, telephone networks analysis. His early work in scrutinizing the use of local, exchange and trunk telephone line usage in a small community to understand the theoretical requirements of an efficient network led to the creation of the Erlang formula, which became a foundational element of modern telecommunication network studies.
