C.O.D. (musician)
C.O.D. was an American electro musician (real name was Raul A. Rodriguez), who had a hit with In the Bottle which was released on Emergency Records and written by Gil-Scot Heron in 1983. The track reached #54 in the UK Singles Chart in May 1983. Rodriguez was a DJ, notable for a residency at the nightclub New York-New York, and a remixer in the New York disco scene. As well as working his own projects he produced the Man Parrish hit " Hip Hop, Be Bop (Don’t Stop)." In 1985, his electro version of Frederick Knights's "Uphill (Peace of Mind)" was featured in the climactic dance-club scene in Michael Cimino's '' Year of the Dragon''. One of Raul's biggest remixes was of ABBA's "Lay All Your Love On Me" in 1980. Due to its popularity on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart, ABBA decided to release their album version as a 12-inch single. Raul died on 4 January 2012 as the result of a severe stroke. The Bottle
"The Bottle" is a song by American soul artist Gil Scott-Heron and musician Brian Jackson, released in 1974 on Strata-East Records in the United States. It was later reissued during the mid-1980s on Champagne Records in the United Kingdom. "The Bottle" was written by Scott-Heron and produced by audio engineer Jose Williams, Jackson, and Scott-Heron. The song serves as a social commentary on alcohol abuse, and it features a Caribbean beat and notable flute solo by Jackson, with Scott-Heron playing keyboards. The song was issued as the first and only single for Scott-Heron's and Jackson's album ''Winter in America'' (1974). A remix (or reorchestration) is a piece of media which has been altered or contorted from its original state by adding, removing, or changing pieces of the item. Streetwave
StreetSounds is a British compilation record label, that specialised in urban and electronic club/dance music during the mid-1980s. StreetSounds was an offshoot of producer and promoter Morgan Khan's StreetWave label. The first StreetSounds release was the first edition of the label's core compilation series, ''StreetSounds 1'' in late 1982. This regular compilation series proclaimed itself 'one hour packs of the latest dance tracks'. They were composed of full-length versions of (mainly) black club and urban dance music.
