Bénédicte Peyrol
Bénédicte Peyrol (born 23 March 1991) is a French lawyer and politician of La République En Marche! (LREM) who was a member of the French National Assembly from 2017 to 2022, representing Allier. Early life and career Born in Vichy, Peyrol grew up in Cusset. Her mother was a nursery nurse at the Vichy hospital and now takes care of the nursery of the hospital, her father is an insurer in Cusset, her grandparents were delicatessens in Varennes. She attended St. Joseph's High School and Saint-Pierre High School in Cusset, where she obtained a baccalauréat with honors. Peyrol then joined the Faculty of Law and Political Science at University of Auvergne where she did her first year of law. She completed her public law degree at the Panthéon-Assas University where she then obtained a master's degree in business law. 2017 French Legislative Election
Legislative elections in France were held on 11 and 18 June 2017 (with different dates for voters overseas) to elect the 577 members of the 15th National Assembly of the Fifth Republic. They followed the two-round presidential election won by Emmanuel Macron. The centrist party he founded in 2016, La République En Marche! The CumEx-Files is an investigation by a number of European news media outlets into a tax fraud scheme discovered by them in 2017. A network of banks, stock traders, and lawyers had obtained billions from European treasuries through suspected fraud and speculation involving dividend taxes. The five hardest hit countries may have lost at least $62.9 billion. Germany is the hardest hit country, with around $36.2 billion withdrawn from the German treasury. Estimated losses for other countries include at least €17 billion for France, €4.5 billion in Italy, €1.7 billion in Denmark and €201 million for Belgium. The name "cum-ex" is derived from Latin, meaning "with without", and refers to the disappearing nature of the fraudulent dividend payments. Dividend Stripping
Dividend stripping is the practice of buying shares a short period before a dividend is declared, called cum-dividend, and then selling them when they go ex-dividend, when the previous owner is entitled to the dividend. On the day the company trades ex-dividend, theoretically the share price drops by the amount of the dividend. This may be done either by an ordinary investor as an investment strategy, or by a company's owners or associates as a tax avoidance strategy. Investors For an investor, dividend stripping provides dividend income, and a capital loss when the shares fall in value (in normal circumstances) on going ex-dividend. This may be profitable if income is greater than the loss, or if the tax treatment of the two gives an advantage. Different tax circumstances of different investors is a factor.
