Buzz Records
Buzz Records is a Canadian-based independent record label with headquarters in Toronto, Ontario. The label evolved out of the underground performance space, The Garage. In 2011, the first releases from the Buzz Records collective were live recordings from the venue; a series titled "Live@The Garage". The Garage was closed down in 2012 but the label continued to release local, underground records in the cassette format. Buzz Records is a collective, co-founded by Denholm Whale, Ian Chai, Dean Tzenos and Erik Jude. The documentary Untold Noise, which focused on the Toronto noise punk scene, features interviews with Buzz Records co-founder Denholm Whale and Buzz Record signees, HSY. NXNE
North by Northeast (or NXNE) is an annual music and arts festival held each June in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The festival's main focus is live music, but it also includes an eSports gaming tournament, comedy, a conversations series, a flea market and more. The festival events happen in a variety venues with free events on Canada's largest street, Yonge Street with events on the Street and in Yonge Dundas Square. ''Weaves'' is the debut full-length album by the Canadian indie pop band of the same name (the band's initial release was an EP, also titled ''Weaves''). Released on June 17, 2016, the album was nominated for Alternative Album of the Year at the 2017 Juno awards. Reception The album received mostly positive reviews; the aggregator site Metacritic assigned it a weighted score of 74, indicating that critics were generally favorable.
