Bundesstraße 59
Bundesstrasse 59 or B 59 is a federal highway in Germany the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It runs from Mönchengladbach to Cologne and ends there at the Hohenzollernring, a section of the Cologne rings. History Road construction between the neighboring cities of Mönchengladbach and Rheydt began in 1831. Around ten years later, in 1840, the adjacent sections to Viersen and Grevenbroich were built. From 1934 this line was called Reichsstraße 59 until it was renamed Bundesstraße 59. Originally the B 59 ran through the localities of Rommerskirchen, Stommeln and Pulheim, the street name "Venloer Straße" still bears witness to this fact today. As early as 1992, however, the B 59n was realized as a bypass road for Stommeln. In 2006 the B 59n gap between Pulheim and the Cologne-Bocklemünd motorway junction ( A 1) was closed after around three years of construction. Cologne Ring
The Cologne Ring (known in German as: ''Kölner Ringe'') is a semi-circular, some 6 km long urban boulevard in Innenstadt, Cologne and the city's busiest and most prominent street system. The Cologne Ring is a four lane street and part of Bundesstraße 9. The ring road encircles the old town of Cologne on its southern, western and northern boundaries on the site of the former mediaeval city wall. It divides Innenstadt into old town (''Altstadt'') east of it and new town (''Neustadt'') west of it. Most of the city wall has been worked away during the 1880s and only few sections of the wall exist today at Hansaring and Sachsenring. Rheydt
Rheydt () is a borough of the Germany, German city Mönchengladbach, located in the west of North Rhine-Westphalia. Until 1918 and then again from 1933 (due to a split from Mönchengladbach arranged by Joseph Goebbels, who was born there) through 1975 it was an independent city. After merging with Mönchengladbach, the central station (Rheydt Hauptbahnhof) kept its original name, making Mönchengladbach the only city in Germany to have two stations called Hauptbahnhof. Viersen (; li, Veeëse) is the capital of the district of Viersen, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Rommerskirchen
Rommerskirchen is the southernmost municipality in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Notable places Rommerskirchen possesses rich historical inheritances, including numerous remains of the Roman Villae Rusticae, and those from several Frankish settlements. The town centre still contains several medieval Roman and Gothic churches and a castle. Pulheim (; Ripuarian language, Ripuarian: ''Pullem'') is a town in the Rhein-Erft-Kreis, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Since the 1920s, a large substation of the ''Rheinisch-Westfälisches Elektrizitätswerk AG'' (RWE) is located at Pulheim. It is the end of the north south powerline and a large control center for the power grid of the RWE. Autobahn 1
is an autobahn in Germany. It runs from Heiligenhafen in Schleswig-Holstein to Saarbrücken, a distance of , but is incomplete between Cologne and Trier. B 207 continues north from Heiligenhafen to Puttgarden, at the end of the island of Fehmarn, with a ferry to Rødby, Denmark. The part north of Hamburg is part of the ''Vogelfluglinie'' (''Migratory Birds Line'') and may be one day connected via a fixed link to Denmark (see below). was an autobahn in western Germany, connecting Jüchen and Grevenbroich, partly replacing the Bundesstraße 59. It was two lanes in each direction.
