Bulolo United
Bulolo United, known briefly as MMJV Bulolo United for sponsorship reasons, is a semi-professional Papua New Guinea association football team based in Lae in the Morobe Province. The club was founded sometime before 1987. The club is best known for its participation in the Papua New Guinea National Soccer League during the 2011–12 season, their one and to date only appearance in the competition. The side finished in 6th place. History The club's history dates back as far as 1987, when they took part in the Papua New Guinea National Club Championship. They were drawn in Group A alongside 5 other teams, but despite a 12–0 victory over Bengeta – the biggest victory of the competition – the side finished fourth and failed to qualify for the semi-finals. The National Premier League was the flagship competition of the Football Federation Papua New Guinea (FFPNG). It was a semi-professional league. It was founded in 2017 after several clubs broke away from the Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA), and ran alongside the Papua New Guinea National Soccer League, National Soccer League as a rival competition. In October 2018, following the merge of the two rival governing bodies, the competition ceased to exist. Morobe Province is a province on the northern coast of Papua New Guinea. The provincial capital and largest city is Lae. The KPHL National Soccer League, also known as the Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited National Soccer League for sponsorship reasons, is the men's top division of professional soccer in Papua New Guinea. The 2011–12 Papua New Guinea National Soccer League season, known as the Telikom NSL Cup for sponsorship reasons, was the sixth edition of Papua New Guinea National Soccer League. The title was won by Hekari United, who defeated Eastern Stars in the Grand Final 3–0 to win their sixth consecutive title. The Golden Boot was won by Raymond Gunemba of Hekari, while Emmanuel Simon of Besta PNG United was the Player of the Season for the third straight year. Teams As in the previous season, there were seven teams in the competition, with six remaining from last season: Hekari United, Eastern Stars, Tukoko University, Besta PNG United, Petro Souths, and Gigira Laitepo Morobe (who relocated and were renamed Gigira Laitepo Central Coast). The Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation (RSSSF) is an international organization dedicated to collecting statistics about association football. The foundation aims to build an exhaustive archive of football-related information from around the world. The Papua New Guinea National Club Championship is the top amateur division of association football in Papua New Guinea. It is a nationwide league and was probably founded in 1976. The league was the highest level of football administered by the Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) until the introduction of the semi-professional National Soccer League in 2006. Thereafter, there were two seasons which ran alongside the semi-professional league, in 2006 and 2008, before the league became defunct after the 2008 edition. In June 2019, the PNGFA announced that the league was to be revived.
