Bulan Loi Luean
"Bulan Loi Luean" ( th, บุหลันลอยเลื่อน, ) or "Bulan Luean Loi Fa" (, ; ) is a composition of Thai classical music traditionally credited to King Rama II. According to the traditional story, the King had a dream in which he saw the moon floating toward him and then heard beautiful music. Upon waking up, he played the music he heard in the dream and had court musicians arrange and remember the piece. The music has since been used in the classical play (lakhon nai) of '' Inao''. In 1871, King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) had a Western arrangement of the song adopted as the royal anthem, and it became known as "Sansoen Phra Barami". The composition was used as the royal anthem until 1888, when the current royal anthem (also known as "Sansoen Phra Barami"; the new anthem was distinguished as "Sansoen Phra Barami (Farang)" as opposed to "Sansoen Phra Barami (Thai)" for the previous one) was adopted. Saw Sam Sai
The ''saw sam sai'' ( th, ซอสามสาย, , , also spelled ''saw samsai'', and occasionally called simply ''sam sai''; literally 'three-stringed fiddle') is a traditional bowed string instrument of Thailand. It is in the ''saw'' family of Thai fiddles, which also includes the ''saw u'' and ''saw duang'', but unlike the other two, has three strings, with a bow that is separate from the instrument. The ''saw sam sai'' is made up of three parts: the neck, the bout and the bow. It has a three-lobed coconut bowl for a body, and a hardwood or ivory neck that has been cleaned and polished with wood varnish. The coconut bowl is covered on one end with animal skin, and it has three silk strings. Its bow is constructed of horsetail and hardwood. Hem Vejakorn
Hem Vejakorn ( th, เหม เวชกร; ; January 17, 1904, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok – April 16, 1969, Thon Buri, Bangkok) was a Thai artist and writer. He is best known for his illustrations for the covers of 10-satang pulp novels, which have in turn influenced subsequent generations of Thai artists and illustrators, and also his ghost stories. It is estimated that he produced more than 50,000 pieces of art, including pen and pencil drawings, watercolors, posters and oil paintings. He portrayed rural life, Thai history and figures from Thai classical literature. His works have been reproduced on Thai postage stamps and featured in art galleries. Chom Rat Chong Charoen ( th, จอมราชจงเจริญ, lit: Long live the great king) was the royal and national anthem of Rattanakosin Kingdom. Sansoen Phra Barami
"Sansoen Phra Barami" ( th, สรรเสริญพระบารมี, ; ) is the current royal anthem of Thailand. It was a de facto national anthem of Siam before 1932. History The first song to be used as royal anthem and de facto national anthem of Siam/Thailand appeared in the reign of King Mongkut of Rattanakosin Kingdom. In 1851, two former British military officers named Captain Impey and Lieutenant Thomas George Knox served with the Siamese Army. The Panji tales (formerly spelled Pandji) are a cycle of Javanese stories, centred around the legendary prince of the same name from East Java, Indonesia. Along with the Ramayana and Mahabharata, the tales are the basis of various poems and a genre of wayang (shadow puppetry) known in East Java as ''wayang gedhog'' (the meaning here is unclear, as "gedhog" means "a thumping sound"). Chulalongkorn
Chulalongkorn ( th, จุฬาลงกรณ์, 20 September 1853 – 23 October 1910) was the fifth monarch of Siam under the House of Chakri, titled Rama V. Farang ( fa, فرنگ) is a Persian (and Southeast Asian) word that originally referred to the Franks (the major Germanic tribe) and later came to refer to White Europeans in general.
