Bukovce
Bukovce ( rue, Буковець; hu, Bukóc) is a village and municipality in Stropkov District in the Prešov Region of north-eastern Slovakia. History In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1379. Geography The municipality lies at an altitude of 239 metres and covers an area of 11.062 km². It has a population of about 562 people. Demographics According to the 2001 census, 52.6% were Slovak and 47.4% Rusyn. In the same census, religion in Bukovce is composed 92.1% Greek Catholic, 5.3% Orthodox and 2.6% Roman Catholic. Eastern Orthodoxy, also known as Eastern Orthodox Christianity, is one of the three main branches of Chalcedonian Christianity, alongside Catholicism and Protestantism. Rusyns
Rusyns (), also known as Carpatho-Rusyns (), or Rusnaks (), are an East Slavs, East Slavic ethnic group from the Carpathian Rus', Eastern Carpathians in Central Europe. They speak Rusyn language, Rusyn, an East Slavic languages, East Slavic Variety (linguistics), language variety, treated variously as either a distinct language or a dialect of the Ukrainian language.
