Buffalo Blizzard
The Buffalo Blizzard was a soccer club that existed from 1992 to 2001 in Buffalo, New York. History The team was originally owned by the Knox brothers who owned the Buffalo Sabres at the time, and additionally by the Riches who owned the minor league baseball Buffalo Bisons. During their last five years of existence, the team was owned by John Bellanti who had previously owned the Buffalo Stallions of the original Major Indoor Soccer League. The team's attendance was always in the top five of the league until its last season, and they had their record high attendance year in 1993–1994 season with an average attendance of 8,435 fans. The major stars of the team were the Pikuzinski brothers, Rudy and Randy, who rank sixth and ninth on the all-time points list. The team colors were blue, purple, black, and white, and the team mascot was a dog Spyke who rode a four-wheeler. The team never won a playoff series. Paul Kitson (soccer)
Paul Kitson (31 May 1956 – 25 August 2005) was an English footballer who played and coached professionally with both indoor and outdoor soccer teams in Canada and the United States. Player Kitson began his career with Watford in England before moving to the United States. He played in Baltimore Blasts from 1983 to 1986, where he won two championships, before being traded to the LA Lazers. On 6 March 1987, the Los Angeles Lazers traded Kitson to the Cleveland Force for Chris Chueden. He spent the next two seasons with the Force. In 1990, he played for the New Jersey Eagles in the American Professional Soccer League. Coach Kitson began his coaching career with the Montreal Impact in 1997. Carlos Salguero
Carlos Salguero (10 June 1955 – 26 December 2006) was an Argentine professional football forward. He died aged 51 from cancer in 2006. He spent one season in the North American Soccer League, one in the United Soccer League and nearly ten in various indoor leagues. Salguero also coached the Buffalo Blizzard of the National Professional Soccer League for one season. Career Salguero began his professional career with Boca Juniors In 1981, he moved north to play for the Calgary Boomers in the North American Soccer League. In the fall of 1981, he signed with the Kansas City Comets of the Major Indoor Soccer League. The Comets traded him to the Buffalo Stallions in exchange for Yilmaz Orhan and Zoran Savic. George Fernandez
George Fernandez is a retired American soccer defender who played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League and National Professional Soccer League. He coached in both the Continental Indoor Soccer League and NPSL and was the 1994 CISL Coach of the Year. Playing career Youth Born in San Francisco, Fernandez spent much of his youth in Hawaii. He played both soccer and football in high school and was offered a football scholarship by the University of the Pacific but chose to attend Cal State Hayward instead. Jim May (soccer)
Jim May is a retired American soccer goalkeeper who played professionally in the North American Soccer League and the Major Indoor Soccer League. May first attended SUNY Cobleskill where he was a 1972 junior college Honorable Mention (third team) All American soccer player. He earned an associate degree from Cobleskill in 1972 and was later inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame. He then transferred to SUNY Brockport where he was a two-year starter on the men's soccer team. He was inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004. Trevor Dawkins
Trevor Dawkins (born 7 October 1945) is an English retired professional footballer who played as a defender or midfielder. He spent seven seasons in the Football League, five in South Africa, and seven in the United States, most in indoor leagues. Following his retirement in 1985, he coached for fourteen years in the U.S. indoor leagues. He was the 1986 AISA Coach of the Year, 1991 MISL Coach of the Year and 1996 CISL Coach of the Year.
