Budapest Challenger (September)
The Budapest Challenger was a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor red clay courts. It was the latter one of the two simultaneous challengers played in Hungary with the event taking place usually in September. It was part of the ATP Challenger Tour. It was held annually at the Római Teniszakadémia in Budapest, Hungary, from 1986 to 2005, when during the 2006 Hungarian floodings the courts were washed away and the event spot was replaced by the WOW Cafe Challenger. The most successful player was Sergio Roitman with three doubles titles. Mariano Delfino (born 30 September 1977) is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. Career Delfino was a qualifier in the 2003 French Open and played against Jean-Rene Lisnard in the first round. He lost the match in four sets. Răzvan Sabău (born 18 June 1977) is a Romanian retired professional tennis player. He reached the semifinals of Bucharest in 2003 and Gstaad in 2005, achieving a career-high singles ranking of World No. 74 in September 2005. He is the coach of Patricia Maria Țig. Christophe Van Garsse (born 21 June 1974) is a former professional tennis player from Belgium. Van Garsse competed in four Grand Slams during his career, including two Wimbledon Championships. He only once failed to get past first round and twice made it into the third round, at Wimbledon in 1997, where he was eliminated by Patrick Rafter and the 1998 French Open, where he lost to Thomas Muster. He was a semi-finalist at the San Marino Open in 1994, defeating world number 27 Magnus Larsson and fifth seed Renzo Furlan. Werner Eschauer (born 26 April 1974) is an Austrian former professional tennis player. Tennis career In his first 12 years as a pro, Eschauer found little success, winning just 7 ATP-level matches and cracking the top-100 for just a few weeks in late 2003, peaking at No. 96. In 2007 however, at the age of 33, Eschauer cracked the top 100 in April and reached World No. 52 in August. Stéphane Huet (born 25 April 1971) is a former professional tennis player from France. Huet appeared in a total of 16 Grand Slam tournaments during his career. When he made his Grand Slam tournament debut in the 1993 French Open, as a qualifier, he was ranked 297 in the world and had just one tour match to his name. Despite this, in the opening round he managed to defeat seventh-seed Ivan Lendl in four sets. Orest Tereshchuk
Orest Tereshchuk (born 18 August 1981) is a former professional tennis player from Ukraine. Career Tereshchuk began playing Davis Cup tennis for the Ukrainian national team in 1999. His last appearance in 2007 was his 18th tie for Ukraine, leveling Andrei Medvedev's record. He finished with a 22/10 career record, second only to Medvedev. On the ATP Tour he made doubles appearances in the 2006 Kremlin Cup (partnering Alexey Kedryuk) and the 2007 St. Petersburg Open (partnering Sergiy Stakhovsky) but was unable to progress past the opening round in either.
