Bror Stefenson
Admiral Bror Per Harald Stefenson (4 September 1929 – 3 October 2018) was a Swedish Navy officer. Stefenson's senior commands include Chief of the Defence Staff and military commander of the Eastern Military District (Milo Ö) as well as Commandant General in Stockholm. He also served as Chief of His Majesty's Military Staff. , Stefenson remains the last appointed Swedish admiral (having been appointed in 1991). Early life Stefenson was born on 4 September 1929 in Stockholm, the son of naval captain Jens Stefenson and his wife Astrid (née Grönberg). He passed ''studentexamen'' at Norra Real in Stockholm in 1948. Career Military career In 1951, Stefenson was commissioned as an officer with the rank of acting sub-lieutenant (''fänrik'') and was promoted two years later to sub-lieutenant (''löjtnant'') before attending the Royal Swedish Naval Academy from 1954 to 1959. The oyalSwedish Armed Forces Staff College ( sv, Militärhögskolan, MHS) was from 1961 to 1996 the Swedish Armed Forces highest institution for officers training, for staff and senior executive education and was located in Stockholm. Slottsbacken (, "Castle Slope") is a street in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden. It stretches east from the Stockholm Cathedral and the Royal Palace down to the street Skeppsbron which passes along the eastern waterfront of the old town. Galärvarvskyrkogården (literally Galley Shipyard Cemetery) is a cemetery on the island of Djurgården in Stockholm, Sweden. It has about 1,300 burial sites and an area of approximately 0.9 hectares. History Galärvarvskyrkogården in Djurgården was established in 1742 and was the last in a series of landscaped cemeteries for naval use. Recently, an encircling wall and a memorial grove has been built. In 1963 the remains of ten men and two women found on the salvaged wreckage of '' Vasa'' was buried here. The Christian Democratic Senior League ( sv, Kristdemokratiska Seniorförbundet) is a Swedish christian democratic organisation primarily for senior members of the Christian Democratic Party. The Christian Democrats ( sv, Kristdemokraterna ; KD) is a Christian-democratic political party in Sweden founded in March 1964. It first entered parliament in 1985, through electoral cooperation with the Centre Party, and in 1991 broke through to win seats by itself. The party leader since 25 April 2015 has been Ebba Busch. The Supreme Commander ( sv, överbefälhavaren; acronym: ÖB) is the highest ranked professional military officer in the Swedish Armed Forces, and is by NATO terminology the Swedish chief of defence equivalent. The Supreme Commander is the agency head of the Swedish Armed Forces and formally reports to the Government of Sweden, though normally through the Minister for Defence. The primary responsibilities and duties of the Supreme Commander (and the charter for the Armed Forces) are prescribed in an ordinance issued by the Government.
