Brittany Anjou (born May 17, 1984) is a New York City-based musician, composer, pianist, vibraphonist, and producer from Seattle, Washington. Anjou leads music ensembles, works as a music director and side musician, and produces several projects as a composer, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter. As a mixed-methods researcher, she has presented her music psychology research on NYC musicians' mental health and wellbeing at academic and global conferences. Biography Anjou studied jazz while growing up in Seattle. Bernard Woma
Bernard Woma (18 December 1966 - 27 April 2018) was a well-known Dagara gyile player from Upper West Ghana who spent many years teaching the instrument and introducing it to audiences around the world. Woma earned two master's degrees in African Studies and Ethnomusicology at Indiana University. He was xylophonist and lead drummer of the National Dance Company of Ghana and of Saakumu Dance Troupe. He performed with New York Philharmonic, South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra and the Albany Symphony Orchestra as well as Berliner Symphoniker in Berlin, Germany, and KwaZulu Natal Symphony Orchestra in Durban, South Africa. He performed his gyil concerto composition "Gyil Nyog Me Na" in 2006 at Zankel Hall in Carnegie Hall, New York. He also founded Dagara Music and Arts Center in Accra, Ghana. Shudder To Think
Shudder to Think was an American alternative rock band. Formed in 1986, they released three albums on the Washington, D.C.-based label Dischord Records, and two on Epic Records. Their early work was largely influenced by post-hardcore although they gradually drew upon a wide range of stylistic influences, including pop music and glam metal. History The band's first lineup was Craig Wedren (vocals and guitar), Chris Matthews (guitar), Stuart Hill (bass) and Mike Russell (drums). Time of Orchids was an American, New York City-based experimental rock band founded in 1999 and disbanded in 2007. Two of the band's albums feature renowned female vocalists. The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) is a museum in a converted Arnold Print Works factory building complex located in North Adams, Massachusetts. It is one of the largest centers for contemporary visual art and performing arts in the United States. Built by the Arnold Print Works, which operated on the site from 1860 to 1942, the complex was used by the Sprague Electric company before its conversion. MASS MoCA originally opened with 19 galleries and of exhibition space in 1999. It has expanded since, including the 2008 expansion of Building 7 and the May 2017 addition of roughly 130,000 square feet when Building 6 was opened. In addition to housing galleries and performing arts spaces, it also rents space to commercial tenants. Wilco
Wilco is an American alternative rock band based in Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 1994 by the remaining members of alternative country group Uncle Tupelo following singer Jay Farrar's departure. Wilco's lineup changed frequently during its first decade, with only singer Jeff Tweedy and bassist John Stirratt remaining from the original incarnation. The Dot Wiggin Band is an American band fronted by Dot Wiggin of the 1960s outsider music band the Shaggs. The band released their debut album, ''Ready! Get! Go!'' in 2013 on Jello Biafra's label, Alternative Tentacles. Formation Dot Wiggin was the lead singer, guitarist and songwriter of the Shaggs, along with her sisters Helen (drums) and Betty Wiggin (guitar, vocals). In 2012, bassist Jesse Krakow organized a tribute to the Shaggs, in which he invited Dot, Betty and Rachel Wiggin of the Shaggs to be honored guests. Ben Perowsky (born May 12, 1966) is an American drummer, percussionist, composer, and music producer. He is the drummer on stage in the 8 TONY award winning Broadway musical Hadestown. Perowsky leads the Ben Perowsky Trio, Moodswing Orchestra and Upstream Trio with Chris Speed and John Medeski. He is a founding member of the electric jazz group Lost Tribe.
