Briana Shepherd
Briana Shepherd (born ) is a Western Australian journalist, reporter, and news presenter for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. She has also worked as a model, ballet dancer and ballet teacher. Shepard attended Perth Modern School. In 2005, at age 18, she joined the New York City Ballet, the first Australian to do so. Her career as a ballet dancer was the cause of several fractured and broken bones. She was one of several dancers laid off in 2009, after which she returned to Perth. She has worked as a model for Vivien's Model Management. Shephard obtained a Bachelor of Communications, majoring in journalism and broadcasting, and a Graduate Certificate of Radio Broadcasting from Edith Cowan University, and began working for the ABC News Perth as journalist and reporter. In 2016, she filled in for James McHale reading the news. From August 2021 to June 2022 she presented the news on Friday-Sunday, while Charlotte Hamlyn was on maternity leave. Edith Cowan University
Edith Cowan University (ECU) is a public university in Western Australia. It is named in honour of the first woman to be elected to an Australian parliament, Edith Cowan, and is the only Australian university named after a woman. Gaining university status in 1991, it was formed from an amalgamation of tertiary colleges with a history dating back to 1902 when the Claremont Teachers College was established, making it the modern descendant of the first tertiary institution in Western Australia. James McHale is an Australian journalist and news presenter. Career McHale graduated from Murdoch University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Laws/Media, majoring in Radio. After completing his degree, he worked at Clayton Utz in 2007 and 2008. In February 2009, McHale joined the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, where he worked as a reporter. Charlotte Hamlyn (born ) is a Western Australian journalist, reporter, and news presenter for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Hamlyn graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2008 with a degree in Communications/English, and started her media career working for a newspaper in Kalgoorlie. In 2008 and 2009 she was an exchange student at the University of Pennsylvania. She started at the ABC in 2009, working as a journalist and reporter, travelling around Western Australia, and overseas for '' Foreign Correspondent''. She also regularly appeared on ABC Radio Perth, including co-hosting the weekend ''Breakfast'' program. Hamlyn presented the ''ABC News'' for one month in 2013, filling in while James McHale was on leave. West Australian Ballet
West Australian Ballet is the State ballet company of Western Australia and is based in Perth, at the Western Australian Ballet Centre in Maylands. The company was founded in 1952 by Madame Kira Bousloff (formerly of the Ballets Russes) and the oldest ballet company in Australia. Artistic directors have included Garth Welch (1979–83) and Ivan Cavallari (2007–12). The current artistic director is Belgian Aurelien Scannella.
