Brian Royal
Brian Royal (born 12 December 1961) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Footscray Football Club (Western Bulldogs) in the Australian Football League (AFL). In his first year for the Bulldogs, Royal won the Charles Sutton Medal, the Club's Best and Fairest award and went on to have an extremely distinguished career. Royal represented his state on seven occasions and was an All-Australian representative. His career came to an abrupt end on 199 games and 299 goals due to a ruptured Achilles tendon against late in the 1993 season. Royal went on to enjoy a long career in coaching at AFL level, as a highly regarded assistant coach at several clubs, including , , and the Western Bulldogs – the last two with Terry Wallace as senior coach. Gippsland Football League
The Gippsland League (formerly known as the West Gippsland Latrobe Football League) is an Australian rules football and netball league in the Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia. It is considered the only AFL Victoria major league in Gippsland. Beaumaris Football Club
The Beaumaris Football Club is an Australian rules football club based in the southern suburbs of Melbourne. The club participates in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). History Late in 1962 a meeting was held in Beaumaris RSL to form a football club for the boys and men in the local area. The club's founding coincided with the formation of the South East Suburban FL in the summer of 1963. In the 1980s the club were regular but unsuccessful finalists. In 1995 the club joined the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA), this avoided the need to pay the players. They commenced in E Grade and over a period of twenty years progressed upward to arrive in A Grade in 2017. In the sport of Australian rules football, each of the eighteen players in a team is assigned to a particular named position on the field of play. These positions describe both the player's main role and by implication their location on the ground. As the game has evolved, tactics and team formations have changed, and the names of the positions and the duties involved have evolved too. There are 18 positions in Australian rules football, not including four (sometimes 6–8) interchange players who may replace another player on the ground at any time during play. The Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) is the largest senior community Australian rules football competition in Victoria. It consists of seven senior men's and women's divisions ranging from Premier to Division 4. In addition there are U19's sections and five Thirds sections, primarily made up of either clubs only able to field one team, or clubs from higher sections that can field a third team after their seniors and reserves. The league operates a double promotion and relegation system between sections with various rules dictating which section clubs can play in.
