Beaumaris Football Club
The Beaumaris Football Club is an Australian rules football club based in the southern suburbs of Melbourne. The club participates in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). History Late in 1962 a meeting was held in Beaumaris RSL to form a football club for the boys and men in the local area. The club's founding coincided with the formation of the South East Suburban FL in the summer of 1963. In the 1980s the club were regular but unsuccessful finalists. In 1995 the club joined the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA), this avoided the need to pay the players. They commenced in E Grade and over a period of twenty years progressed upward to arrive in A Grade in 2017. Victorian Amateur Football Association
The Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) is the largest senior community Australian rules football competition in Victoria (Australia), Victoria. It consists of seven senior men's and women's divisions ranging from Premier to Division 4. In addition there are U19's sections and five Thirds sections, primarily made up of either clubs only able to field one team, or clubs from higher sections that can field a third team after their seniors and reserves. The league operates a double promotion and relegation system between sections with various rules dictating which section clubs can play in. The league's administration base is at Elsternwick Park, a former Victorian Football League, Victorian Football Association stadium in suburban Elsternwick, Victoria, that was home to the now defunct Brighton Football Club and is now the home base for Old Melburnians Football Club and Elsternwick Football Club. Stephen Milne
Stephen Milne (born 8 March 1980) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). A small forward, he held the record for the most games played by a player originally drafted via the Rookie Draft, however this was surpassed by the West Coast Eagles' Dean Cox in early 2014. AFL career Milne was recruited to St Kilda from the Essendon reserves and placed on St Kilda's Rookie List after playing for the Dandenong Stingrays and Noble Park Football Club in the late 1990s. 2001 Milne was elevated to St Kilda's primary list from the club's rookie list prior to the start of the 2001 season. Michael Roberts (footballer)
Michael Roberts (born 27 July 1959) is a former Australian rules footballer and now television sports journalist and reporter with the Nine Network and Triple M. Football career Roberts was recruited from Beaumaris, Victoria, and is the son of former St Kilda Football Club great Neil Roberts. He made his debut with St Kilda in 1978, and went on to play 77 games and kick 45 goals until 1985. He then moved to the Richmond Football Club for one season in 1986, playing only 12 games and 4 goals. He made his final move to the Fitzroy Football Club for 1987, where he managed only 2 games and 1 goal. Roberts also represented Victoria in 1981. Cameron Bruce (born 30 September 1979) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Melbourne Football Club and Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). David Spriggs (footballer)
David Spriggs (born 25 January 1981) is an Australian rules footballer with the Vermont Football Club in the Eastern Football League, who formerly played for the AFL's Geelong Football Club, Sydney Swans and the Port Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League. Career He was recruited as the number 15 draft pick in the 1999 AFL draft from Beaumaris. He made his debut for Geelong in Round 1, 2000 against Fremantle. He was delisted by the Cats at the end of the 2004 season and nominated himself in the 2004 AFL draft where he was picked up by the Sydney Swans for pick No. 47. Jack Gunston
Jack Gunston (born 16 October 1991) is a professional Australian footballer who plays for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Gunston was raised in Melbourne in Beaumaris and attended Haileybury College, playing school football alongside three other future AFL players ( Tom Scully, Jack Hutchins, and Tom Lynch). His father, Ray Gunston, played VFA football for Brunswick, and later moved into sports administration. Gunston began his junior career with the Beaumaris Football Club. He originally played mainly as a midfielder, but after growing in two years he began to play more in key positions. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Rod Galt
Rodney Maxwell Galt (9 October 1951 – 9 April 2019) was an Australian rules footballer in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and South Australian National Football League (SANFL). A ruckman and forward, Galt made his debut for St Kilda in 1971 and played there for four seasons, before moving to Carlton in 1975. He played only eleven games for Carlton in his first three seasons with the club, and was loaned to New South Wales Australian Football League club Western Suburbs in 1977, where he won a premiership. He was a regular in the Carlton forward line in 1978, winning the club's goalkicking with 49 goals. He played another 14 games in 1979, but was dropped from the team prior to the finals and was cleared at the end of the season. Leigh Fisher (born 19 April 1984) is an Australian rules football umpire and former player in the Australian Football League (AFL). Playing career Fisher was recruited as the number 46 draft pick in the 2002 AFL Draft from Sandringham. He made his debut for St Kilda in 2003 against the West Coast Eagles in Round 18. Fisher went on to become a regular fixture in the Saints' best 22 playing as a small defender in 2006 and 2007.
