Bratislava Zoo
The Bratislava Zoo ( sk, Zoologická záhrada Bratislava) is a zoo in Bratislava, Slovakia. It is located in the area of Mlynská dolina in the borough Karlova Ves. Opened in 1960, it is the second oldest zoo in Slovakia. The zoo covers an area of , out of which is open to the public. The zoo receives on average around 300,000 visitors annually. As of 2020, it is home to over 1150 specimens of 169 animal species and is open every day of the year, with the exception of 1 January. Major attractions include white lions, white tigers and ''DinoPark'', featuring moving life-sized sculptures of dinosaurs. ZOO Bratislava was one of the first zoos in Europe that was successful in breeding Eurasian lynx in captivity. White Lion
The white lion is a rare color mutation of the lion, specifically the Southern African lion. White lions in the area of Timbavati are thought to have been indigenous to the Timbavati region of South Africa for centuries, although the earliest recorded sighting in this region was in 1938. White lions first became known to the English-speaking world in 1977 through the book ''The White Lions of Timbavati''. Description White lions are not albinos. Their white color is caused by a recessive trait, called leucism, derived from a less-severe mutation in the same gene that causes albinism, similar to the gene responsible for white tigers. They vary from blonde to near-white. This coloration does not appear to pose a disadvantage to their survival. Vydrica (river)
Vydrica ( hu, Vödric, german: Weidritz) is a small long river in south-western Slovakia, which originates in the Little Carpathians mountains at about 450 m AMSL and flows into the Danube through the capital Bratislava. The river passes through the Bratislava Forest Park and enters the Danube in Karlova Ves borough. Some localities along the river are part of Natura 2000. It is one of few rivers in Slovakia to flow directly into the Danube. Geography Vydrica originates underneath the Biely kríž col underneath the ''Malý Javorník'' peak, in an area called Dubové. It flows south-west through the Bratislava Forest Park, collecting an unknown tributary and feeding two man-made water basins. Sitina Tunnel
__NOTOC__ The Sitina Tunnel (alternatives ''Sitiny Tunnel'' or ''Františka Tunnel'') is a motorway tunnel in Bratislava, Slovakia on the D2 motorway at the "Lamačská cesta - Staré grunty" section. The tunnel goes under the Little Carpathians forest. It is the first two-tube tunnel in Slovakia and by its opening, the entire D2 motorway in Slovakia was completed. Preparation and facts The preparation works for both the tunnel and the motorway section began in the 1990s. The route had to be chosen; there were 3 variants: * 1st variant suggested a motorway along the old road without tunnel * 2nd variant suggested a shorter tunnel * 3rd variant suggested a longer tunnel After studying all the 3 variants, the variant with a shorter tunnel was selected, mainly for environmental reasons. Motorway D2 (Slovakia)
D2 is a motorway ( sk, diaľnica) in Slovakia. It connects the Czech border at Kúty with the Hungarian border at Čunovo, passing through (ordered north to south) Malacky, Bratislava and Jarovce. It is part of the European routes E65 and E75 and of the Pan-European Corridor IV. The construction of the highway started in 1969 and it was finished in 2007. It is the only complete highway in Slovakia. History The first plans on D2 motorway/freeway appeared in the 1960s, from the Czechoslovak government act in 1963 to build 117 km long motorway from Brno to Bratislava, with 58.4 km in today's Slovakia. Sewage (or domestic sewage, domestic wastewater, municipal wastewater) is a type of wastewater that is produced by a community of people. It is typically transported through a sewer system. Bratislava (, also ; ; german: Preßburg/Pressburg ; hu, Pozsony) is the capital and largest city of Slovakia. Park kultúry a oddychu abbreviated PKO ( en, Park of Culture and Relaxation) and in the past commonly referred to as ''Pekáč'' was a complex of buildings in Bratislava, Slovakia on the Bratislava Riverfront by the Danube, built in 1954 and demolished in 2016. Until 2010, the complex was a major place for cultural events in the capital city featuring musical concerts, TV show tapings, balls, high school proms ( sk, stužková) and dance class graduations ( sk, venček). Kull The Conqueror
''Kull the Conqueror'' is a 1997 fantasy film about the Robert E. Howard character Kull starring Kevin Sorbo. It is a film adaptation of Howard's Conan novel ''The Hour of the Dragon'', with the protagonist changed to the author's other barbarian hero Kull. The storyline also bears similarities to two other Howard stories, the Kull story "By This Axe I Rule!" and the Conan story "The Phoenix on the Sword", which was a rewritten version of "By This Axe I Rule!" Hamadryas Baboon
The hamadryas baboon (''Papio hamadryas'' ) is a species of baboon within the Old World monkey family. It is the northernmost of all the baboons, being native to the Horn of Africa and the southwestern region of the Arabian Peninsula. These regions provide habitats with the advantage for this species of fewer natural predators than central or southern Africa where other baboons reside.
