The Brandenburglied (also known under the title of "Märkische Heide", or Märkish Heath) was a music piece written for the Province of Brandenburg, then within the Kingdom of Prussia of the German Empire. It was used in the province from 1906 to 1936. In present days it is used as unofficial anthem of the German federal state of Brandenburg. Province Of Brandenburg
The Province of Brandenburg (german: Provinz Brandenburg) was a province of Prussia from 1815 to 1945. Brandenburg was established in 1815 from the Kingdom of Prussia's core territory, comprised the bulk of the historic Margraviate of Brandenburg (excluding Altmark) and the Lower Lusatia region, and became part of the German Empire in 1871.
